Tiktok presents "content" in sporadic, isolated moments, lacking any broader story-telling components such as: scene, plot, character, or theme. This disjointed, staggered parceling of jokes chokes the bit before it could even be funny; even your sketch shows of yore had to develop whole scenes with recurring characters and growing plots so that the audience could appreciate the story being told through the humour. It made the comedy a vehicle for something grander than just its jokes. Here, there is no story being developed, but as viewers, we still search for a story. The immediate story we put together is the following:Male. Mid 30s. Fat. Autistic fashion. Alone, dark room, recording childish folly. Are they self aware? Probably not. Does some aspect of this remind me of *myself*? Do people look at *me* the way I'm looking at him right now? And so what was meant to be a "joke" is far more sad than it is funny. Perhaps a child might see this and laugh, because a child lacks the life experience to understand that circumstances change. But we see this, and we are reminded of our own shortcomings. Of our own failures. Our own crushed dreams.
