Was there any way for Argentina to become much more powerful and wealthy than it became?99% of its problems seem to be down to political instability and self imposed crises. If you were some immortal behind the scenes leader, guiding Argentinas political class since it’s independence, what moves would you have made differently?
>more powerful and wealthyyes>much more powerful and wealthynoWe are in the "good" timeline for them. If they had somehow managed to industrialise without undermining their very strong agricultral sector, we'd be in the "great" timeline-provided they didn't hit all the major political shitshows that developed. However best case scenario they are just a well developed regional power as opposed to south american batshit mess #12
Better institutional stability, no Perón, no murderous military dictatorship, no Kirchnerism, transparent governance, strong independent judiciary, and somehow brainwashing everyone into not acting like everyday corruption is normal and good.
>>18488747Hey argentinian, you are not white, you are a mestizo. We are tired of your spam on this board about non stop argensimian threadsNo, argentina was never going to be a great nation, you were destined to always be weaker than Brazil, a greater nation with a higher % of Europeans.
>>18488747>Was there any way for Argentina to become much more powerful and wealthy than it became?sure, by winning their war against brazil and becoming the hegemon of south america insteadsadly, the argentinian commander, Alvear, was a traitor and didnt exterminate the brazilians when he had the chance
> If you were some immortal behind the scenes leader, guiding Argentinas political class since it’s independence, what moves would you have made differently?Simple, Rosas should have appointed himself monarch instead of cucking to liberals, savage unitarians and the british. 50 years of monarchy would have worked wonders.
yeah eventually, with Juan Manuel de Rosas. He saw how the United States and Great Britain were developing into industrial powerhouses by proteccionist policies.>turns out to be the most richest and powerful landowner in Buenos Aires>employs his workforce as a private army>gets elected dictator of the Argentine Confederation as governor of Buenos Aires>clear objectives based on protection of local industry, particulary textiles and leather>wins a conflict with the French>succesfully gets the British to recognize Argentine authority over the internal rivers for commerce>his proteccionism wasn't isolationism. The Great Powers could only sell things that weren't produced by the provinces, like pianos for example.>even with his policies damaging british comercial interests in the area, the british authorities found him to be a reasonable man to deal with to the point he was received with honors in England when he was exiled. He was a key ally in the region in their war against slavery>had plans to restore the United Provinces' territories by meddling in Uruguay's civil war; there are reasons to believe he was also planning to eventually get Paraguay to rejoin the fold>he realized, unlike his liberal political enemies, that Argentina was still culturally spanish and catholic so he used religion and the nostalgia over the old administration as his main unification policy>he didn't buy the whole "international division of labour" thing >restores relations with the Pope, allowing the Jesuits to come back to Argentina as educators, but making it clear the Church would work under his authority, having even the power to nominate bishops

>>18488747>>18488759Honestly this isn't even a good timeline for them. US support of the junta during the Dirty War is probably what doomed Argentina to its current political instability more than Perón's time in power. Perón began putting Argentina on the right path to industrialisation but post-Dirty War basically screwed them into reliance on the global financial system.>>18488768This but I'm a damned leftie so I'm a little sympathetic to Perón message overall. I'm a little stupid.
Go back in time and shoot baby Peron in the fucking head 10-15 times
