Reading the book of Samuel really makes me think the author really REALLY fucking hates Saul like holy shit

Plus how in the world did a witch raise up a mighty Prophet like Samuel back from the dead? Why did Saul even seek her out and not just pray to God???

It's. Not. Real.

There was no Saul. David might have existed, but the only evidence we have of Jerusalem at the time was a tiny village in Judah. Solomon never existed, and there's no proof such an empire ever existed. These books were written by people long after, much closer to the time of Jesus than to the lives of any of those men.

Why was Saul punished? The author was likely a Cohen who wanted to create a royal figure that didn't obey the priestly and prophetic authority of the Yahwists and paid the price for it. David, on the other hand, loved Yahweh and did his best to uphold the Law of Moses. If anything, the story was written so that whenever a monarch arise in the land of Israel the priests could point to the history and tell the king, "See? This is what happens when you don't follow the Torah."

>When he takes the throne of his kingdom, he is to write for himself on a scroll a copy of this law, taken from that of the Levitical priests.

I feel sorry for Saul but God is never wrong. He should have obeyed the one who made him king.

This is a piece of a vase with the name Jerubbaal inscribed on it found in Israel b archeologist that proves the book of Judges and the existence of Gideon.

The name Jerubaal litterly means that the pots owner was a baal worshiper and a regular caanite and not a jew.
Jews originated as a collection of caaninite tribes
Every archaeologist and anthropologist will point that judaism originated from the caaninite religion and that what the OT says about being two different religions competing with each other is a later development made up by scribes trying to rationalize their current religion with historical records of many gods, idols and the state acting to centralize the cult around Jerusalem

The name Jerubbaal is mockery of Baal, not worship. It is a name given to Gideon, no one else has been called like that.

>I feel sorry for Saul
Isn't this the same as claiming God is wrong?
