Why do Christians love to push the meme that religion and science are independent? Does religion have nothing to do with reality? All religious texts state verifiable facts. For example, the Bible clearly says the Earth was created 6000 years ago. But we have evidence of entire cities from millennia before that, and of human artifacts from even further back then. Well?

It doesn't say anything in the Bible about the Earth being 6k years old though. So you're already wrong

How does "science" and "logic" help young men pump their goo into virgin holes? Because Jesus can do that.

It's a rather recent cope. They used to be very much entwined. Creation stories were attempts to explain why the natural world came to be. And before monotheism conquered the world, in many pantheons natural events were explained by blaming the whims and moods of gods that needed to be appeased with offerings.

With the advances of science it became clear that all of those religious explanations are wrong, so they were declared figurative by apologists.

>Bible clearly says the Earth was created 6000 years ago.
It doesn't say this. The 6000 years comes from people calculating the time from Adam, which doesn't reveal the age they had children so is therefore guesswork. The first week of creation is generally seen as being allegorical days, not literal.

because the whole idea of science is things that can be independently verified no matter who you are, and that don't depend on being told something by some god.
>>
>>18495392
this has been debunked yesterday
>>
>>18495690
what's your methodology to state that something is allegorical and not real?
the fact that science disproves it? At the end of it all your book is going to sound pretty stale

>The first week of creation is generally seen as being allegorical days, not literal.
sure, now that it has been proven false, but not before that.

Adam and Eve never existed and humans are older than 6000 years.

It doesn't clearly state it, but it is implied when you put together various pieces of information from different books to make a timeline from Adam to verifiable historical events.

>the time from Adam, which doesn't reveal the age they had children
It does though, that is exactlt what it states in Genesis.
>seven days is generally considered figuratively
There are some early Christians who thought so yeah, but they did not think the genealogies from Adam were figurative, so they had the same timeline of human history regardless.

>implied
Imaging basing your salvation on an implication. Imaging the immortal all powerful creator of the entire universe resorting to implications instead of directly laying it out in His perfect word.

Tbh the Babble would be more believable if it explicitly laid out a timeline that aligns with modern geology.

Even in the bible there are other groups of people who are not descendants of Adam and Eve. Young Earth is just another retarded Americanism like the rapture.

>no people who lived for hundreds of years
>no global flood
>no tower of babel
>no exodus
>yeshua of nazareth did not fly
Owari da.

We have the Shroud of Turin, there were chariot wheels found in the Red Sea, the Ziggurat of Etemenanki existed, the Zanclean flood is exactly where Noah was, and many people live over the age of one hundred. But the Bible says people can only live to 120, and Jeanne Calment proves this. I think you're just an idiot under the influence of Satan.

Many Christians need Christianity to be true for their beliefs to mean something, which in my humble opinion, is the incorrect way to go about worshipping God. You shouldn't worship God because of "facts" because we cannot prove the existence of a God (I apply Gödel's incompleteness theorem in philosophy). You should worship based solely on personal faith. Even if the mythos is not historically accurate the Bible (and other religious texts) still contains themes and lessons that matter throughout all time.

>thinks "hundreds of" is synonymous with "up to 120"
Nothing more needs to be said, engaging with any other points would be a waste of time after this.

Not all Christians follow a literalist interpretation of the Bible

>what's your methodology to state that something is allegorical and not real?
Criterion of embarrassment. The real one though, as in how embarrassing it is to have to pretend that any of the magic stuff in the text is real.

>there were chariot wheels found in the Red Sea
How could this possibly be? Almost like it's right next to Egypt, a civilization that heavily used chariots after having it introduced by the Hyksos, another civilization nearby who could also access the red sea? How could anyone possibly have dropped chariot wheels in the sea right next door in the time frame starting from 1550 BCE when the first recordings of chariots in Egypt are found?
