The Mafia is partially responsible for the inner city urban decay, mass drug addiction, and general degeneracy that occured in most large American cities on the Eastern coast. The other half of accountability goes to the government officials who waited until the 80s/90s to speak up against and effectively put down American mafiosos.That being said, just how genuine was Joe Colombo and the Italian-American civil rights league? Obviously Colombo was a gangster but I think it's interesting how a boss of an organized crime faction was the face of Italian civil rights. Makes me wonder how many other organizations like it are actually fronts for organized crime.
