What's Poland's take on him? Was he perceived as some sort of Judas figure who became a Russian, or is there some sort of pride in his accomplishments as a Field Marshal?
>>
From my observations, Poles view him more as a Russian, both today and when Rokossovsky was alive. (In the USSR, however, he was considered a Pole.)
And if you want a first-hand opinion from a Pole (me), Poles are a bit Russophobic. Dont pay attention to our opinions. read and decide for yourself

Not much if any. He was and seen as Russian, even if he become/was rather fond of Poland. Supposedly he didn't really wanted going back to USSR after his deployment in Poland ended.

Perhaps the most based thing ive ever heard a pole proclaim

>Russophobic
Phobia is an irrational fear
Therefore russophobia CANNOT exist, because fear of russians is always rational.
See also islamophobia.

neither irrational nor fear

I already have an opinion of him as a military commander, I was just curious about the societal dynamic of his background and that impact on his role as Field Marshal of the 1950s Polish army.

His deployment to Poland had similar goal as deploying Zhukov to some random place in the Urals. Yes he did something deemed important - oversaw the communist military in Poland as a definite loyalist - but he was one of potential "red Napoleons" in eyes of Stalin so all this was in a sense an act of sending him away from Moscow so a red army junta wouldn't have chance to form.
He wasn't as much of an abrasive attention whore as Zhukov and didn't try to build his own legend, but he was known to treat his subordinates well and this generated genuine loyalty, extend this trait to the Soviet elite in Moscow and it's possible that he wouldn't even have to to perform a coup(like Zhukov would), a coup would be performed for him if he had time to build connections.

I'm Polish but it's silly to treat his appointment to Poland as anything other than just Stalin playing his power games.

As a Pole, I choose to claim him because he was one of the more competent generals of the war and therefore I can use him as evidence of Polish national superiority.

serfdom in poland has been abolished in 1794; savage, asiatic moskals brought it back

>serfdom in poland has been abolished in 1794
More like Poland was abolished in 1794, serfdom wasn't, the kosciuszko reforms were limited in scope and scale

A somewhat tragic figure; he complained that the Russians see him as a Pole and the Poles see him as a Russian; he was hardly welcomed anywhere.
A decent guy overall; he was a communist without questions but he kept strictly to military affairs with no involvement in communist crimes etc. If this whole communism thing was being run by people like him it might have had better chances of survival - but his non-involvement in politic matters is what let him survive the purges in the first place.

Literally me and also literally every other dual-nationalityfag out there who was unlucky enough to be born and raised in countries which adhere to the whole "bloodline matters but also you have to grow up here" rule, which is all of Europe basically.
I'm half-German and half-Scottish but then grew up in bloody fucking Kenya and Indonesia because of my dad's work and now I'm not considered a local anywhere lmao. My half-Jap friends all have the same problem too.
> If this whole communism thing was being run by people like him it might have had better chances of survival -
God no, military men managing an economy is literally the only thing worse than having orthodox Marxists running one.

>Rokossovsky was born to a Polish noble family in Warsaw in present-day Poland
Why do all communists do this, even Lenin was technically a noble.

It's what happens when a state like the PLC explodes and is carved up. People meme on Poland but they constituted a serious part of Europe's 'ecosystem'. Without it you just get a lot disgruntled former nobles.
