Historically, most of the black population lived in the countryside and worked in agriculture. But around 1950, something changed when blacks started moving to cities in large numbers and rapidly changed demographics of different population centers. On the flipside, the influx of rural blacks in urban residential areas led to white residents selling their property and leaving the cities, a phenomenon known as 'white flight'. Within a few decades, the entire black population was living in large cities while the countryside was very white. Why did this happen?
Economic opportunities (and also, you know, not being lynched because a crazy hwite woman lied about you). A better question is why do whites gentrify inner city black neighborhoods? I'd like to hear 4chan thoughts on that. Black people complain about gentrification and whites moving in all the time.

>>18500175The inner cities are safe now but still cheaper than the suburbs and nice parts of town, so newcomers (mostly White/Asian/non-Black) move there. On one hand I get people not liking the nature of their neighborhoods changing but on the other hand the gentrified neighborhoods are objectively cleaner and safer than pre-gentrification, so….its still a win for the neighborhood as a whole.
>>18500177Black people seem to care less about Hispanics moving in and more about white people moving in. >>18500179A lot of black people will also complain white people moving in causes property taxes to rise and price out blacks who have been there. Though if you asked me, they should take that out on the government, not white homeowners.
