Sure there was some migration, but mostly from a few Spaniards moving over for work. Most of the European ancestry in Latin America comes from immigration during the national period, post-independence. This meant their colonies stayed way more indigenous than those of Britain.The other factor is that the Spanish didn't take to racial beliefs as quickly. British settlers very quickly devised a racial world-view that the indigenous were all untrustworthy, possibly demonic savages, and that blacks were inferior and needed to be civilized by the whites. This was done to uphold the slavery of africans who were born into it and converted to Christianity.Spain didn't need to do this as much, certainly not with the natives. Spain often viewed the natives as equal subjects to the crown. While towards the 1700s you see a racial caste system be put into place, that was after 200+ years of colonialism and wasn't as entrenched into the mindset of Latinos. This meant 'race-mixing' was just not shunned the way it was in the English colonies and happened more often.
