I’m watching this 3-hour Hundred Years’ War video.

I've been watching videos about cults, hippies, and greaser culture.

/his/ told me youtubeslop is bad, so I only read books at a snail's pace because I'm a lazy fuck. But I'm currently learning about Medieval Spain.
What I'd like to ask is: how do you guys summon and maintain the motivation to keep actively learning about history? I have that /v/tard problem where people say "I spend way more time browsing /v/ than actually playing videogames," but for /his/, which is an incredible thing because this board has so much dogshit splattered on it, but again and again here I am.

Watch videos or listen to audiobooks if you're struggling

idk I listened to a history podcast about mongolia and it was pretty good, ofc a book would be good too it's just easier to digest audio/video.

Nothing really as I'm pretty content with my current state of knowledge about the topics that interest me. But tomorrow a friend and I are going to visit a local castle, which has undergone exhaustive renovation. Apparently they found and partially restored some 13th century wall painting that was hidden under 19th century wooden veneers.

If you are really interested in a topic than you will want to learn about it in your own pace.

>/his/ told me youtubeslop is bad,
It is, but not everything on youtube is algorithm-chasing clickbait. Finding good stuff is difficult, and more difficult if you have poisoned your personal recommendations by consuming slop. The algorithm is unlikely to ever put actually good content in front of you if you indicate you have poor taste. It will reward your interest in garbage with more garbage.

I don't see learning about history as a chore. It's not something I have to force myself to do, I do it because I genuinely enjoy learning about history. I read history books and watch historical documentaries for fun, I spend several hours a week consuming history media for no other reason than because I prefer doing it to other leisure activities.
