I could care less about china and Japan is better

>does nothing for thousands of years except feudalistic petty daimyo conflicts and occasional shogunates
Compare this to China
>Horrific total wars against the steppe peoples or the tibetan mountain niggers or Koreans
>nonstop peasant rebellions and civil wars
>tens of millions dead
>Seat of power constantly shifting hands due to flexible mandate of heaven
>birthplace of eastern philosophy, art, script, political and military theories
Japan only became great after the collapse of Tokugawa.

Japan is a cool country without a doubt but its history is a bit boring.
Chinese history is just so grand that it's like reading about conflicts between Gods.

Wade-Giles is discounted for transliterating xiong as hsiung. That's just awful.

Guoyin should have succeeded at becoming the national language and reintroducing those other sounds and tones from the different dialects into the Beijing dialect as a basis, which was actually developed by linguists and very educated people. It would have been less phonetically impoverished than Mandarin which is just constant homophones shi shi shi you xi qi shi qu qi shi xu shi qi. But China was in chaos with warlords everywhere and they just gave up and used Beijing dialect as the national language which is a real shame.

>The artificial nature of the system proved impractical,[2] and in 1926 a decision was made to normalize the pronunciations to the pronunciations found in Beijing, which resulted in a revised Guóyīn Chángyòng Zìhuì (國音常用字匯, "Vocabulary of National Pronunciation for Everyday Use") published in 1932
Could be worse. Could be the Sichuan dialect.

Aisin Gioro speaks the best mandarin. Beijing dialect is the dialect of the Manchu overlords and master race.

Some say Yan were proto-Koreans. Is this true?

Chiang Kai Shek's brief period of LARPing as Hitler by screeching at the top of his lungs will never not be hilarious.

Shandong is perhaps THE most boring region in Chinese history

>not culturally important like core plains/xian mountain fortresses
>not militarily important like the north or the the mountain fortresses
>not religiously important like the center
>no edge/mytique like the south
>not especially economically important despite being the coast in a river/canal based civ that did comparatively little trading by sea
>not especially well settled but not rural either

its like, the ohio of chinese history.
its just there.

Qi was a dukedom founded by Jiang Ziya, as a reward for helping the first King of Zhou overthrow the Shang. You know, the old and wise strategist featured in every Investitures adaptation.
