My point still stands that the initial cause of the Crusades was happening due to the Turks fucking up the Byzantines, the Byzantines asked for help and the Crusaders only obliged because they thought it would be convenient in the Orthodox-Catholic reconciliation and getting more land. That didn't happen, and the Crusaders just decided to keep fighting for the next few centuries to save face. The point is that both modern day Arabs (who mind you, historically the Saracerns gave zero fucks about the Crusades and called it the "Frankish Wars" for a reason, they cared more for the Mongols massacring them) and modern-day Westerners somehow bicker about who really started it and ignore the fact this only really started because of the Turks taking land from the Arabs.
