Many scholars during the Middle Ages also claimed to have gotten their much information from an earlier (now-lost) Middle Persian source because guess what, Sassanid-era Persia had the University of Gondishapur which mogged anything west of it as well as various other libraries across the empire. Unfortunately most Middle Persian works weren’t preserved and with them the knowledge and memory of countless scholars and philosophers. Very disappointing we’ll never get to read the works of Zoroastrian philosophers.
