Let's face it, no matter how weird Stalin and Mao were, at the end of the day they are the only reason Russia and China didn't turn into India. If Russia and China were wholesome democracies they would have turned into India. Virtually every metric that matters skyrocketed under them, and the people who actually lived under them rather than having learned about them through wikipedia and a couple of chud infographics respect them and their tombs have millions of visitors
What about Taiwan, the last remnant of non-communist China?
Both the Tsardom and the KMT Republic were showing large economic growth before they fell. They also never had the same levels of pollution and poverty as India.
>>18508189They had Chiang Kai-Shek, a similarly brutally oppressive "tyrant" who made their shithole first world
>>18508187Nah, India is India because of Indians. China was at its lowest during Mao's rule, being saved by Deng who used chinese autism to the advantage of the country. Russia was pretty much always a shithole anyways, but it's nowhere near as bad as the South Asian countries.
>>18508190KMT China absolutely wasn't, first it was a war-torn shithole and then hyperinflation hollowed out what was left of the economy
>>18508187India were better functioning democracy than russia or kievan rus’ or ukraine, what is the issue
>>18508254Sadly I get my history from facts instead of vibes.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nanjing_decade#Economic_developments
>>18508189>Taiwan was a dictatorship until the late 80s>As was South Korea>As was Singapore>As was Hong Kong (colonial government was appointed directly by Britain with no local oversight)>Japan may as well have been since the LDP monopolized electoral politicskek literally every success story in Asia was illiberal, democracy is poison
You don't need a strongman. India's best state Kerala has been dominated by communist politicians. Seems like communist/socialist schemes can work quite well for modernizing poor societies.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kerala_model
>>18508187India? You mean the same India that [spent most of its post-independence history being best buddies with the USSR](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indo-Soviet_Treaty_of_Friendship_and_Cooperation), had an [infamously strict system of state controls and regulations over its economy](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Licence_Raj) which remained in place until the fall of communism, and has [socialism written into the preamble to their constitution](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Preamble_to_the_Constitution_of_India) to this very day? You use that country as your go-to punching bag example of the faults of capitalism compared to communism? LMAO.
>>18509673>Kerala has been dominated by communist politiciansno it's west bengal communists ruled bengal for 5 dacades and ruined it's economy Kerala youth immigrate to gulf countries under kafala system & work as labour for Arabs to support their state economy https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kerala_Gulf_diasporahttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kafala_system
>>18509673>communists so desperate for any successful examples that they cite indian provinceskek
