Alright I got a good one for you all. So this thought experiment is part of a book or paper but no one knows what work its from. In addition, no one actually knows what the thought experiments is actually about. What's your thoughts?
>>
>be human
>make 10 snares
>1 catches a rabbit
>the concept of probabilities is self-evident
>use a different kind of wood to make a snare
>make 10 of these new snares
>catch 2 rabbits
>conclude that the new wood increases the probability even though the wood has similar properties to the last type used
>you have now made an irrational connection between the wood and the increased probability of success, ie. luck
there, mystery solved, but something tells me r*dditors are still "debating" it and claiming this has profound implications on the human psyche, that everything is a subjective social construct including race and gender or whatever

If the guy and his entire culture have never heard of the concept of luck I don't think there's any way he would come up with it while just looking at a rock unless he was schizophrenic or something.
>>
>>18509092
Someone did in our world though? lol someone came up with the concept at some point
>>
>>18508910
peak midwit nonsense
>>
>>18509803
Yeah but I'd imagine it was a result of engaging with random outcomes, like coincidentally you land multiple really unlikely spear throws while wearing a certain loin cloth, so that becomes your lucky loin cloth. Not just seeing a rock and thinking "I bet that's lucky" for no reason.
>>
>>18508910
That Reddit post is complete incoherent nonsense and not worth engaging with.
>>
>>18511525
that's what I said here>>18508920 , you just switched out the belief lucky wood enhances snares for a lucky loin cloth enhancing spear throws
