I still don't understand why the more a country "progresses" the less farmers and food producers they have. That seems so fucking stupid to me. For example european nations or China. Yes they are first world, no denying that, but how come they literally have no self produced food anymore (enough to feed themselves without outside imports I mean) and if war happened they would just starve, what use is all the money and all the electronics when you can't eat your cellphone

At least the usa has food production to sustain itself, but all other 1st world nations don't, the second the world falls into chaos they have to submit to others who have food. Most city people don't even know how to grow tomatoes or a potato.

Farming is hard work and given the opportunity to move to the city and get a normal job, most people will do that.

European nations have plenty of farmers and are food self-sufficient. Farmers are notoriously powerful in countries like Holland where their protests blockaded half the country.
