>In 1970 leading Japanese Communist Party intellectuals like Fuwa concluded that Lenin had wrongly extrapolated from the repressive, economically underdeveloped conditions of Tsarist era Russia — where there were limited options for organized opposition outside of armed struggle — to conclude that armed struggle led by a revolutionary vanguard should be the norm for Marxist revolutionary movements globally. They insisted that Marx’s original ideas in works such as Capital supported a very different argument. That is, that capitalism, in its centralizing late stages, enables an inadvertent “socialization of labour” through which the working class can gradually acquire control of the means of production. Moreover, according to Marx, in representative democratic nations political struggle to assert control over the means of production can take place by “peaceful means”. In those nations, a non-violent revolutionary “transition period” from capitalism to socialism is possible.

The JCP was made to enact a hardcore violent revolution by Stalin in the 1950s. He demanded they do this because it worked for Mao, so why wouldn't it work in Japan? Despite them obviously having extremely different conditions. As a result of this the JCP went from being a well respected party peacefully participating in political life to a universally hated bunch of terrorists with no popular support. This incident made them completely renounce all forms of violence, and the OP is one such example of it, even going as far as to refute Lenin himself. The JCP were really butthurt that Stalin made them lose all support.Unsurprisingly, this also caused several pro-Stalin/Mao splitter groups to form, who said the JCP were revisionist traitors. Here's a song by one such group:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YIomuSAz_IcAnd pic related is a propaganda poster from the Japanese red army, another splinter group, who went to Palestine to fight against Israel.
>>18509220>where there were limited options for organized opposition outside of armed struggleI think Colombia is interesting because there were serious left-wing guerrillas for decades (thousands of combatants controlling swathes of the countryside) but it makes sense because left-wing politicians would just get assassinated and elections blatantly rigged. The FARC started out as a mostly peasant army. But fast-forward into the 21st century the main force demobilized and you have "dissident" groups that are basically running their own rackets, while a left-wing party did win the presidency a few years ago. They'll probably lose this round happening now but they got 40% of the vote in the first round, so the left is now a semi-permanent force in electoral politics. The fact that they weren't before wasn't because there wasn't a significant base for these ideas in the society, rather it was a militarily strong force weak in "politics" because that was blocked. Here's the campaign song from the last election. Petro is charismatic though (also a former guerrilla) and he's term limited while Cepeda is extremely dull.https://youtu.be/Ufzze_MwFmA>Moreover, according to Marx, in representative democratic nations political struggle to assert control over the means of production can take place by “peaceful means”. Well yeah. Marx was skeptical that it would happen peacefully in many countries in Europe in the 1800s, and I think he took it for granted that it would involve workers grabbing muskets and cannons because again 19th century, but his whole method was also critical of the idea of abstract, contra-historical "principles" that it MUST take place via armed struggle.
>>18509281What made you start posting about Colombia in a Japan thread?
