>permanently transforms the Democrat Party into the grievance/wealth redistribution partyYou're welcome.
*Democratic Party
I do think we should improve society somewhat.
>>18510617Appalling how Democrats went straight from Based Grover to this commie
>>18510728Spotted the commie asshole.
>>18510728And you're welcome to do it with your own money. If you can prove your idea works, then you can ask other people to contribute. Demanding people's money at gunpoint for a cockamamie scheme without any proof it will work and then saying the reason it didn't work is you didn't get enough money has been the Democrat playbook for over 100 years now.
>>18511168Social security ended the epidemic of elder poverty. It is not a cockamamie scheme without any proof it will work. It has worked.
>>18511172Nothing good has come out of subsidizing boomers living longer. I wish I could have my hands about your throat.
>>18511172yes, the transfer of wealth from productive, child-bearing aged citizens to elderly, non-productive citizens was very succesful. Just look at the decline in generational wealth, crashing birth rates, and lack of home ownership in people under 60.
>>18511196>Nothing good has come out of subsidizing boomers living longerthat had more to do with improving health care than gibes
>>18511172in olden times people had like 8 kids and they all provided for you in your old age
>>18510773>Appalling how Democrats went straight from Based Grover to this commiethe old Jeffersonian vision was a nation of small farmers and merchants. that America was dead by the Gilded Age, the working man was a cog in a vast corporate machine. slavery had been abolished for black men only to be reinstated for white men, so they could only ask that the pie be distributed more fairly instead of dying of black lung in a coal mine at 50 while John Rockefeller lived in a mansion.
Democrats were always an ethnic grievance party in the north, they were rooted in immigrant political machines for a reason. And Jackson, the party's founder, famously broke the national bank. The Working Men's Party of New York, a proto-communist party which inspired Marx, became the Locofoco faction of the local Democrats. If anything, Bryan was the historical norm and Cleveland the aberration.
>>18511412William Jennings Bryan didn't focus his campaigns in 1896 or 1900 on urban ethnics at all but indebted farmers in the South and Midwest. In that case it was more because the independent farmer of the pioneer age was dead and agriculture had become factory farming controlled by big business. It was not until FDR that the ethnic grievance platform became the national Democrat Party's thing.
>>18511412>and Cleveland the aberrationin such fairness, the Democrat candidates in 1868 and '76 (Seymour and Tilden) were extremely similar to Cleveland, they just didn't win because the Republican brand was too strong to overcome. it took until 1884, after the GOP had been in power over two decades and their complacency and corruption had gotten to be too much that Cleveland was able to win on an anti-corruption plank.
>>18511412immigrant machines were mostly localized and didn't really have power outside the cities. in the antebellum era at least the Democrat Party's main base and funding came from the South. the postwar South was broke and in ruins so the party for quite a while lacked any major donors. Cleveland was able to win because he was conservative and a lot of Republicans in the North were willing to cross party lines to vote for him.
>>18510617IMO, thats Huey Long, FDR, and LBJBryan was Nazbol gang
>>18511496I don't think FDR or even Long belong in the same camp with LBJ. Johnson was an Israeli vassal and permanently destroyed our cities.
