In March 1991, a 15 year old african-american girl Latasha Harlins walked into a korean owned store. However, after getting accused of stealing items, she was shot and killed by the korean owner. This was widely considered as an incident of racial profiling and a modern day lynching. However, the store owner claimed self-defense, and was only given probation.
