Atheism isn't the hatred of God, what you're thinking of is Misotheism. Atheism is a lack of belief in God. You can't hate something you don't believe in. Misotheists do believe in God, they just don't like God. It's somewhat related to Dystheism, which is the belief that God himself is actually evil or not wholly-goodIf an atheist was simply out to hate God, wouldn't they simply call themselves Dystheists instead?
