God is responsible for all the evil in the world.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HE IS ONLY SLIGHTLY INDIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE EVEN THOUGH HE HAD PERFECT KNOWLEDGE OF THE FUTURE WHICH BASICALLY MAKES IT DIRECT BUT FUCKYOU REDDIT ATHEIST AAAAAACK

So you want to live in a perfectly good world? Ok, repent, become Christian, and begin the process of sanctification.
>>
>>18519021
Then what good was your conclusion? Neither certain nor actionable...
>>

Evil is not a substance of its own. Evil is a lack of good. A privation.

Moral evil and its consequences occur due to humans. It is a lack of good behaviour. The reason God lets this play out is free will. Without consequences to our actions, we would not truly be human. We would essentially be puppets. True love requires choice and cooperation you cannot force it. To truly love a rational soul you must allow it full autonomy of its use of reason and will.

Natural evil is a different matter. These are things like disease and natural disasters. The traditional explanation is that man is out of sync with God, who is the source of life, and is thus prone to decay and the effects of the natural world. This is because of initial disobedience, or the fall of man. Theology says that God orders things to be good, and in allowing cause and effect to play out in creation, will allow the things we know as “natural evil” if it is ordered to higher good. For instance, God may permit the suffering of some animals from disease if the population of that species was controlled in a way that allowed for the flourishing of an overall environment. However since animals do not have a protracted I or ego to comprehend what suffering truly is, and instead operate off instinct and sensation, their suffering is not as severe as that of man.

This is generally how the problem of evil is explained.
>>
>>18518969
You're proof of that
>>
>>18519036
>The reason God lets this play out is free will
god forces people predestined to hell into this world without making them inside some vacuum space and then asking them first do they want to be sent to earth, he doesnt talk to you at all while on earth, and then doesnt let you stop existing and puts you into hell, where you are to infinitely suffer for finite sins you were predestined to without the "free will" to stop existing.

therefore, for all intents and purposes, either this free will does not exist, or god is not good.

Isaiah 45:7
>I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.

How does God create evil if it's merely a privation? Your view is anti-Biblical.
>>
>>18519046
You still make the choice though. To accept God or not. God does not experience time as a sequence of events, it is one eternal now to him. He can see what choice you will make but he does not force your hand. Double predestination is condemned by most denominations and theologians.

If we were first created in a void with intellect and understanding and asked before God what we want to do in our lives and where we want to go, we would not be men. We would be some other category of being entirely. You seem to be using the fact that God didn’t create us as such as evidence that he isn’t there.
>he doesnt talk to you at all while on earth
Many people report a connection and relationship with God. This is often hand waved away as “schizophrenia” or childish delusion by sceptics. Do you want the ground of existence to be a constant booming voice in the sky telling you what to do? Wouldn’t that grant us less freedom rather than more. I’d say that if this was the case, people would be arguing that God does not leave us be and is coercing us in daily existence, and therefore isn’t good.
>stop existing and puts you into hell, where you are to infinitely suffer for finite sins you were predestined to without the "free will" to stop existing.
you aren’t “put in hell”. Hell is not a place like in popular imagery. Hell is a state. You’re “in hell” the same way you’re in pain. The state of being locked out of communion with God after death by your own choice. If you want an existence without God, then you are granted your wish. Your choice is granted. But because God is the source of being and goodness, for a created soul, this is logically, horrific. Hell is the eternal wince you will feel when at death, the veil drops, and the exact state of who you are is revealed before the omniscient eternal light of truth. Repent while the gate is open.

If God is the source of all being and goodness, and seperation and lack of good is evil, then the existence of God and seperation of him thus brings about the possibility for evil.

If there was no ontological good, there could be no thing for “evil” to be defined as. Think about light. If it never existed, then neither would darkness as a concept. It’s metaphysically impossible for evil to exist as a thing on its own. God is the source of goodness, and being. His being is identical with his goodness. Therefore the opposite of that would be a total lack of being, or nothing, meaning it wouldn’t exist. Existence is a good, therefore if evil existed as its own thing, it would possess a good. Which would not make it evil.
>>

God is the creator of evil, that's very explicitly outlined. He's not just all goodness, he's all things. He wouldn't be omnipotent otherwise.

Open your eyes and lift up your horns if ye are able to recognize the Elect One.'

2 And the Lord of Spirits seated him on the throne of His glory,

And the spirit of righteousness was poured out upon him,

And the word of his mouth slays all the sinners,

And all the unrighteous are destroyed from before his face.

3 And there shall stand up in that day all the kings and the mighty,

And the exalted and those who hold the earth,

And they shall see and recognize How he sits on the throne of his glory,

And righteousness is judged before him,

And no lying word is spoken before him.

4 Then shall pain come upon them as on a woman in travail,

[And she has pain in bringing forth]

When her child enters the mouth of the womb,

And she has pain in bringing forth.

5 And one portion of them shall look on the other,

And they shall be terrified,

And they shall be downcast of countenance,

And pain shall seize them,

When they see that Son of Man Sitting on the throne of his glory.

6 And the kings and the mighty and all who possess the earth shall bless and glorify and extol him who rules over all, who was hidden.

7 For from the beginning the Son of Man was hidden,

And the Most High preserved him in the presence of His might,

And revealed him to the elect.

8 And the congregation of the elect and holy shall be sown,

And all the elect shall stand before him on that day.

You misunderstand the point. Evil is not a thing. It is defined by lack, a lack of good. It is not a positive substance.

Good is the perfection of a being. A good knife is the perfection of the knife. A good man is the perfection of a man. Thus in order for evil to exist, on its own, as a seperate thing, it must be the antithesis of perfection of being. The lack of being. Meaning it doesn’t exist.

And all the kings and the mighty and the exalted and those who rule the earth

Shall fall down before him on their faces,

And worship and set their hope upon that Son of Man,

And petition him and supplicate for mercy at his hands.

10 Nevertheless that Lord of Spirits will so press them

That they shall hastily go forth from His presence,

And their faces shall be filled with shame,

And the darkness grow deeper on their faces.

11 And He will deliver them to the angels for punishment,

To execute vengeance on them because they have oppressed His children and His elect

12 And they shall be a spectacle for the righteous and for His elect:

They shall rejoice over them,

Because the wrath of the Lord of Spirits resteth upon them,

And His sword is drunk with their blood.

13 And the righteous and elect shall be saved on that day,

And they shall never thenceforward see the face of the sinners and unrighteous.

14 And the Lord of Spirits will abide over them,

And with that Son of Man shall they eat

And lie down and rise up for ever and ever.

15 And the righteous and elect shall have risen from the earth,

And ceased to be of downcast countenance.

And they shall have been clothed with garments of glory,

16 And these shall be the garments of life from the Lord of Spirits:

And your garments shall not grow old,

Nor your glory pass away before the Lord of Spirits.

If evil didn't exist the Bible wouldn't explicitly describe God as creating it. Your view, once more, doesn't have any canonical basis.
>>
Christians simultaneously believe that God is omnipotent but also that all the evil in this world is either not his fault or we deserve it.
It's a schizo position that leads to nothing but neurosis

Yeah good summary, except you're conclusion ignores the reality that atheists are all hooked on SSRI's, neurotic, miserable, and worship elections as the ultimate arbiter of morality.

No. Evil humans are. And it's God's command that we wipe out all evil humans and evil relentlessly.
