There were dozens of papal crusades and less than half of them targeted Muslims.Euros love slaughtering one another. In 1260 the Pope ordered a Crusade against an Italian noble family, and the victorious Papal-aligned armies, after sieging the family's castle, lied to them to convince them they'd be shown mercy if they surrendered, and then killed them all. Then they quartered+beheaded all the sons (including children), and then stripped, paraded through town, and then burned alive a the wife and young daughters in front of the father, before torturing him to death too.Learn the history of the Crusades.
>>18519724Far easier to win against fellow barbarians than more civilized muslims of the time. Even when crusaders took jerausalem for a second time it was only because the Muslim world was already suffering from Mongol raids.
>>18519724The Prussian pagans did not have this Manichaean sectarian framework of "pagan vs Christian." They were intuitively, and instinctively fighting back against the Germans because they invaded them.

>>18519750Muslims mogged christurds in every single metric during the crusades, economics, technology, civics, etc…and Muslims mogged northrons in all those until the 1700’s.
>>18519724Europeans mostly killed other Europeans, Muslims mostly killed other Muslims, East Asians mostly killed other East Asians, etc. Nothing unique about it.

The Northern Crusades weren't about spreading Christianity, they were about Germans engaging in genocide. They didn't want to stop after the Baltic tribes converted. The Poles and Lithuanians went to the Pope because the Teutonic Order kept attacking them anyway, and German priests like John of Falkenberg went to argue they should not only be allowed to massacre and enslave all the Balts but even the Poles too, the rest of the Catholic Church was so horrified he was imprisoned for that. It was basically the same thing as the Nazis would later do with the Eastern Front and justifying it with fighting against Bolshevism when the real motive was the extermination of the people living there to expand German living space.
>>18519773Who?
>>18519774Barbarians up there have been doing that for the better part of 5000 years.
>>18519774It can be about colonizing people and spreading Christianity. Human beings are violent and complex. Historically speaking, there is no such thing as "True Christianity" - and the only reasons the Nazis LARPed as Teutonic knights was because of superficial propaganda reasons.>>18519769Yeah you usually kill people because you have disagreements of them. Warfare is an extension of politics. You interact with the people next to you more often than you do with people on the other side of the world, so you fight them the most.
