Why did Japan invade China? What did they want from it? Was there a plan for China had Japan been victorious?

Placing Japan as equal among the other great imperial powers

>why did Japan invade China
they just wanted Manchuria for the usual reasons such as presitage, more resources, land, and cheap labor, Japan didn't want to do a full war with China, but a bunch of lower ranking military officers wanted to fight a war with china and pretty much started the conflict dragging Japan in with them

>Why did Japan invade China?
It was very stupid war for a geopolitical shitshow.

>Why did Japan invade China?
Righteous response to years of chinese aggression .
>Jinan Massacre (1928): Chinese troops slaughtered Japanese expatriates.
>Mukden Incident (1931): Chinese troops blew up the South Manchuria Railway and blamed Japan in an attempt to annex the region.
>First Shanghai Incident/January 28 Incident (1932): China’s 19th Route Army attacked Japanese troops and expatriates in Shanghai, forcing Japan to counterattack.
>Marco Polo Bridge Incident (1937): Chinese troops opened fire on Japanese troops.
>Tongzhou Massacre (1937): Eastern Hebei Security Force brutally massacres Japanese and Korean civilians, with over 200 women and children killed.
>Second Shanghai Incident/August 13 Incident: Chinese troops attacked Japanese forces in Shanghai, escalating the conflict.
Japan had every right to restore order in China and prevent additional killing of Japanese. Furthermore, Japan treated Chinese people far better than the KMT and CCP, both of which were murderous dictatorial regimes.
