wellington was a talented musician but when he stopped drinking and fucking his life away idly in his early 20s he burned his fiddle never to play again.wellington was denied his future wifes hand in ireland on account of his lack of status, when he came back from india as a hero ten years later his first remark upon seeing her again was "She has grown ugly, by Jove!". he still married her and the marriage was extremely unhappy and he constantly cheated on her.wellington spent over 5 years leading his men on the iberian peninsula not taking a single break, never going home to britain even once although this was normal for british commanders at the time.wellington never trusted his subordinates with major decisions, he shouldered all responsibility himself.wellington always tried to limit the raping and pillaging of his men to an absolute minimum.wellington spent the night after his first major battle grieving on the battlefield, he once said that the "Nothing except a battle lost can be half so melancholy as a battle won".wellington never stopped hating war and never grew desensitivized to human suffering. wellington saved napoleons life multiple times both on the battlefield and after defeat.wellington could have retired to eternal glory and universal admiration of all brits after his military career but instead went into politics, purely out of a sense of duty, working hard to keep the common man out of politics. as a result wellington was the most hated man in britain for many years.wellington was known to have bedded several of napoleons lovers after the latter was sent to the south atlantic. he was reportedly a superior lover.wellington felled the tory government of 1852 when he was 84 by shouting "who who" at the unknown ministers as they were being announced. they became known as the "who who cabinet" and had to resign shortly afterwards because of this.
>>18528517Had he not committed the peterloo massacre, he may have been considered a hero. He still is but falls short of being an untainted hero. Also he was a mason but to be fair I don't think he was deep in that shit.
>>18528517>ultimate englishman>irish
>>18528525He was an anglo descent living in Dublin. That doesn't mean he was Irish.
You forgot that Wellington was flanderised into being portrayed as an Ultra-Tory elitist reactionary but he was in fact... I am not going to say progressive but open to change and some degree of reform. He passed Catholic Emancipation was the greatest ally of Robert Peel. In fact, there is no doubt that his jabs at the Who-Who government were, in part, due to it being made of traitors to Peel (and, by consequence, traitors to Pitt the Younger, which makes sense considering their leaders Lord Derby and Disraeli had been, respectively, an aristocratic Foxitte Whig and a Radical, before inflitrating the Conservative party)
>>18528521How the fuck did Wellington commit the Peterloo Massacre!? He was in Europe at the time
>>18528521Ah, and also, he supported opium strategy despite heavy criticisms.Though he prolly knew what he was doing but felt like he had to do it anyways for national interest.
>>18528517>working hard to keep the common man out of politicsbased and totally justifiedpilled
>>18528545ok i am now confused. i thought he was involved but now it says he wasn't. wtf, where did i read that it was under his command.
>>18528557Jealous people (N*ppytranny fans) like to put the blame on him for everything
>greatest englishman to ever live>only remembered for being the most prominent commander in the 7th international coalition required to defeat napoleon
>Best englishman is a capable yet uninnovative commander, only known for one single battle over a an already collapsed empire. At least, Nelson revolutionized the way naval combat was fought and died at the peak of his glory. Wellington only gave the british the single one battle to boast about for centuries.
>>18530277That wasn't even Wellington. Napoleon was obliterating the British before the Prussians unexpectedly rescued them at Waterloo.
>>18530287>before the Prussians unexpectedly rescued them at Waterloocause the detachment Nappy sent to intercept them couldn't find them
>>18528517>his first remark upon seeing her again was "She has grown ugly, by Jove!". he still married her and the marriage was extremely unhappy and he constantly cheated on her.>wellington spent over 5 years leading his men on the iberian peninsula not taking a single break, never going home to britain even oncePutting these two next to each other kek
>>18528517How exactly fucking a roasty soiled by Nap's cum already makes him so great. If anything, to come last makes him look like a cuck while Napoleon had the fresh prime pussy.
>>18530371Those women also said Wellington was better in bed, and Napoleon has no leg to stand on, what with Josephine.
>>18530371He also fucked a roastie soiled by Lord Byron immediately after Waterloo
>>18530277Without Wellington's effort, Iberia would've been lost to French. He beat the best marshals of Nappy and freed Spain. It's just that Iberian campaign is overlooked. He was not as uninnovative as you say. When it is more successful, economical and efficient to be uninnovative then that's the way to go. >>18530287Napoleon was not obliterating the British. He was coming very close to doing so at one point but it was the most he could do thanks to his illlness keeping him away from the command and blunders made by his subordinates like Ney's.As much as Napoleon was nearly breaking the British, they also held the line just barely, and it stayed that way throughout the whole fight.Prussians did rescue them but had British collapsed before they arrived Prussians would also have been defeated and possibly decimated if Napoleon somehow finally made a contact with Grouchy. So it wasn't simply Prussians saving their asses. Both had to fulfill their role to win and the role of the British was obviously much harder. It really was damn nearest thing ever. Not retreating and end up getting annihilated for doing so at the brink of obliteration payed off. That takes guts and intuition. I am not glazing him but he's quite underrated.
>>18530852The guerilla won the peninsula. Otherwise the expedition would have ended the same way it did in Netherland and Vendee. Massena did'nt even try at Torres Vedras because his logistic was exhausted. It was also the other campaigns that turned the french attention : Napoleon basically kicked the british out of Spain when he did personally step in. He could'nt finish the job because the Grande Armee had to turn back for the Essling-Wagram campaign. The Royal Navy can also be credited for its ability to land and embark the expeditionnary anytime needed if things went wrong. And despite all Wellington's advantages and despite reaching southern France, the Spanish front had little impact on the 7th coalition. The real blow came from the east.
