I've stumbled across several videos on TikTok (yes, I know, that was my first mistake) of people claiming that during slavery in America, it was common practice for slave owners to cannibalize slaves. They claim that this was so widespread that entire cookbooks were made detailing how to prepare the meat of slaves. Now, from what I have found, there is zero verifiable evidence that this is true. I found no evidence of any cookbooks, or any reliable historical records that indicate that this was a common practice. All I found were a handful of isolated incidents of sailors lost at sea eating the bodies of slaves. Where does this rumor come from? And why do so many people on the internet seem to think it's historical fact?

>it was common practice for slave owners to cannibalize slaves
complete bullshit

I figured as such, yet I have seen a startling number of folks on social media spread this claim around. I know it's the internet and misinformation spreads easily, but it's incredibly frustrating to see people repeat something and clearly not do any research into it.

non whites, specifically browns and blacks, are fed an unending supply of agitprop to make them hate whites

whites aren't angels, but they're not devils either by any stretch. Most of what they have done was with benevolent intentions.

I haven’t read this book, but from what I understand it uses cannibalism as a metaphor? I’ve seen people online claim the book literally is arguing that cannibalism was widespread, I’ve even seen some people erroneously claim that this book is one of the cookbooks.

I don't know and I'm never gonna read a book called The Delectable Negro: Human Consumption and Homoeroticism in US Slavery Culture

It addresses some allegations which were contemporary with slavery iirc.

The only confirmed cases related to american slavery and cannibalism involved slave owners forcing slaves to eat each other. Not one case of a slave owners eating their slaves has been confirmed, though I definitely don't doubt it happened a few times.
