Why does literally everyone think Judaism came before Christianity?

Ancient Jews WERE Christians, their religion was Christianity. Most of them accepted Jesus, only a small minority of Pharisees rejected Him.

Christian Scripture was finalized around 65 AD when John of Patmos wrote his letters to the early Christians.

The Bible was assembled before 400 AD.

The Talmud was not completely written until around 600 AD.

And Islam was not completely written until around 632 AD. And the Muslim canon was not finalized until around 650 AD after Uthman noticed there were multiple Qurans.

There were significant differences between manuscripts too, the Muslims lie when they say otherwise. Some Qurans were missing al-fatihah entirely, and some had two extra surahs at the end which were later turned into prayers. And some versions had extra mysterious opener letters. My theory is al fatihah was added last because the Quran had no good opening, Surah 2 was originally the opening but Surah 1 was added later to make a more formal opening lol.

The claim that "Ancient Jews were Christians" gets history backwards. Christianity emerged as a 1st-century sect within Second Temple Judaism. The early followers of Jesus were Jewish, but the vast majority of the Jewish population in the Roman Empire did not accept Jesus as the Messiah; it was actually a minority movement that eventually became overwhelmingly Gentile (non-Jewish) as it broke away from traditional Jewish law. To say Judaism came after Christianity because the Talmud was written down later confuses the religion with one of its legal commentaries. The Hebrew Bible (the Tanakh) was already established, and the core of Jewish oral law was actively practiced centuries before Jesus. Sages finally codified it into the Mishnah (c. 200 AD) and the Talmud (c. 400–600 AD) only because the Roman destruction of Jerusalem forced them to preserve their ancient oral traditions in writing.

Second, the Christian timeline presented here is historically inaccurate. John of Patmos wrote Revelation, not the final letters of the New Testament, and mainstream scholarship dates Revelation to around 95 AD, not 65 AD. Furthermore, the New Testament canon wasn't magically finalized then; the process took centuries, with the 27-book New Testament structure only solidifying in the late 4th century (such as in Athanasius's Easter Letter of 367 AD).

Thanks for the insight ChatGPT but even from a genetic standpoint Jews are like 3rd in line when it comes to claiming ancestry in Israel. The modern Palestinians are more genetically similar to the people who used to live there lol.

Prove it

Literally just read Matthew 1

Or are you meaning to tell me the Bible lied to us?

Jesus' descendents did not read the Talmud so they were not Jews tho lol.

Judaism is not just a religion, it’s also an ethnicity. An atheist Jew is still a Jew because they are culturally and ethnically Jewish

This is the final Abrahamic redpill. The Israelites were Trinitarians. The Old Testament says repeatedly that God (the Father) cannot be seen or heard by humans because it would kill them. And yet God (the Son) appeared to Abraham, wrestled with Jacob, spoke face to face with Moses, appeared over the the tabernacle as a cloud (the Holy Spirit), and on and on. It was only after Christ rebuked the pharisees and destroyed their temple in 70 AD that the jews concocted a new monotheistic religion that was a reactionary movement against Christianity. Eastern Christianity always understood this. Western Christianity forgot this, and actually used the Masoretic text for their Old Testament as though it was a more authentic translation than the Septuagint.

Ok. Well you agree then the religion Judaism came after Christianity because I was saying nothing about ethnicity in my post as you know. Lol.
>>
>>18534903
True. The Bible says God cannot be seen but He was also seen. Jesus can be seen but the Father cannot. All the Jews believed a messiah was coming too lol.
>>
>>18535034
Nope, the Jewish ethnicity and religion predate Christianity
>>
>>18535037
But the Jewish religion involves the talmud which postdates the Bible lol.
>>
>>18535040
So? Christians also have religious texts which postdate the bible. This is not the own you think it is

Ancient Jews weren't Christians. Is this some weird schizo "they believed in Jesus all along" type of shit? Ancient Jews weren't Christians. They weren't Jews either. Religion as this centrally organized and canonized series of beliefs didn't exist anywhere in the western world prior to the Nicene Creed. There were ancient people of Judea, they practice a folk religion that was passed down through a series of loosely-connected oral and written tradition that was compiled into what we now call the Torah or Old Testament
>>18534886
Orthodox and Karaite Jews also don't read the Talmud
>>18534895
This is also not accurate, and Christian Atheists also exist https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_atheism
Judaism is complicated because what makes someone a Jew is broad and depends on each individual Rabbi and person to determine, there are Jews that think anyone can be Jewish because everyone is descended from Noah and then there's Jews that think that only a handful of Levantine and Ashkenazi people can be Jewish
>>
>>18535040
The Talmud is not the centerpiece of Judaism, that would be the Torah. The Talmud is just a commentary on it and justifies all it's opinions by citing the Torah
>>
>>18534527
I'm still waiting for you to provide proof for this
>>
>>18534494
The Talmud is part of the Oral Torah which dates back to Moses

The code of hammurabi the babylonian legal text were codified circa 1753 bce
