why do you think stoic philosophy has become way more popular than Epicureanism nowadays?
>also
why do people still believe hedonism is about having drug-fueled orgies when this guy said a million times it is NOT that
>>

What's there to be hedonistic about when no one can attain sex
>>
>>18535869
there are other pleasures besides sex you know?
>>
>>18535854
Because Stoics texts have largely survived while Epicurean texts haven't, with a chunk of what we know about Epicureans being what Stoics wrote about them, which was often negative writings since they were rivals to the Epicureans, with Lucretius and a few short letters from Epicurus being the rest. Stoicism was also always significantly more popular in Rome than Epicureanism.

And Epicureans are hedonists, just not Cyrenaic hedonists, who are the drug filled orgy hedonists. People mistake the two because they're retarded.

Because roman Stoicism is more practical for the current ruling class, who desire a compliant population of ass kissers that are anxious to mind their own business and fearful of their superiors.
