Nazi Germany with a highly agressive 4-4-2 Diamond formation. Utilises Model as a defensive midfield pivot and Bock leading the attacking thrust through the center.

Weakness in it's reliance on the wingbacks though to provide width, which often causes Paulus to be caught out of position on the counter, causing manstein to be pulled wide to try and cover.

You read about the war and you don't see Model, but you read about Model and you see the whole war.

USA opting for a more balanced 4-5-1.
Uncreative midfield but able to control games. Not haramball but not the most exciting outfit.

Patton very effective as a lone striker up top when he's not serving a ban for slapping or racial abuse. MacArthur never passes and always loses posession but for some reason hasn't been dropped.

Outrageously ambitious 3-5-2 from the soviets, utilising a crazy high line reliant on vasilevsky filling a sweeper keeper role. Vorishilov and Budenny liabilities as wingbacks but the manager refuses to drop them for some reason.

Britain going for their traditonal 4-4-2. Limited side set up to try and play to it's strenghts: Well planned set-pieces. O'Connor a brilliant talent... when he's able to play. A bit like Michael Owen.

Concerns about Percival's judgement when under pressure at centre-back, but the manager is keeping faith in him for the moment.

Will France XI rely on its colonial troops?

As typical the French had disciplinary issues which marred their tournament and contributed to their disastrous first round exit.

Whether the new manager can string something new together and try to navigate the losers bracket is yet to be seen. Colonial players likely to play a large part due to unpopularity of initial french XI.

Japan opting for the unconventional 1-0-9

Gotta get that goalie forward on every set piece, they'll never expect it
