In old books and documentaries India is always listed as part of the "Moslem territory". India was just reeled off as "Muslim land" as casually as Egypt or Persia was in those days. Today if anyone calls India Muslim land they will be challenged and attacked. In fact even Muslims themselves don't claim India anymore. Is this because Pakistan split away or some other reason that India is not broadly included as part of the Islamic world anymore?

Hinduism outside of a few areas, was not represented in the upper classes even though it was the majority of the population overall.
