Again, though, I don't have a problem with it being a national holiday. Slavery is way too important to the history of the country so a holiday made to celebrate its end is perfectly fine with me. Like I said before, my issue is that it should be called Emancipation Day and set up as a holiday both to reflect on the history of slavery in the US and celebrate its end. Juneteenth just sounds like a shitty party your buddy is throwing. It's too goofy and doesn't give the holiday the proper weight that it should have which is why people can be dismissive of it.
