My understanding is that a lot of modern celebrators host BBQ's and such. What did earlier celebrations look like?

I don't celebrate. Not a fan of colored folk.
>>

I legitimately would not have an issue with it if it was called Emancipation Day. Juneteenth sounds retarded, childish and doesn't tell you what the holiday is about at all.

>b-but there were multiple instances of emancipation and--
So what? Just let it stand for all of them and the general end of slavery. Having the (now) most prominent day regarding it be the catch-all holiday is fine.

Literally nobody celebrated this fake holiday before the Floyd riots in 2020.
>>
>>18538895
It was invented by jewish leftoids that don't think blacks are capable of being intellectually mature

Objectively false

It was celebrated in a specific state by a small minority of people in said state and was elevated by the Floyd riots. Again, though, I don't have a problem with it being a national holiday. Slavery is way too important to the history of the country so a holiday made to celebrate its end is perfectly fine with me. Like I said before, my issue is that it should be called Emancipation Day and set up as a holiday both to reflect on the history of slavery in the US and celebrate its end. Juneteenth just sounds like a shitty party your buddy is throwing. It's too goofy and doesn't give the holiday the proper weight that it should have which is why people can be dismissive of it.

"Literally nobody" means "literally nobody", but I do agree with you about the name sucking
