Eisenhower (5/29/1917 - 11/22/1963), who served as president from 1961 to his assassination in 1963 by Lee Harvey Oswald. He is the most recent president to be assassinated and also die in office. Prior to being president, he was a senator and representative from Massachusetts. He also served in the navy during WW2. Notable actions or events during his presidency include the New Frontier Speech, the Kennedy Doctrine, the "A Strategy of Peace" Address, Bay of Pigs, the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Civil Rights Address, the Partial Nuclear Test Ban Treaty, the Clean Air Act, the Peace Corps, and the Apollo Program. It's astonishing to read just what a sickly walking corpse he was in contrast to his public image. He was so frail that some question if he could have survived a second term at all.
