Atheists of /his/, what made you convinced that gods don't exist?

They were raped by their mullah.

Oppy's "greatest argument" is pretty good imo. I'm also convinced that naturalism is most likely true due to the lack of magic out in the world.
>>18545360
I'm too white to know what that is.

Is Oppy's stuff good? I've been meaning to read it.

It's good in the sense that he's a talented and clear thinker, but it's very dry and technical and he often repeats himself for the sake of accuracy.
So basically it depends on whether you can stand typical anglo analytical philosophy prose.

Thanks. I've already suffered from reading British Marxist historians (whose prose is drier than Sahara desert), so I think I should be able to power my way through.

first I was lost in darkness
then I was enlighten by my own intellect and I rejoiced

I have inner peace. The monkey mind has gone silent. If you tell me things like
>maybe there's a pink elephant in your closet
It rolls off my consciousness like drops of water on a freshly waxed car. This is the bliss of sobriety.

No thought is given to fantasies. Nobody tells me what is real. I experience it.

Funnily enough, naturalists would remain naturalists even if magic were true. Everyone mocked faith healing as supernatural voodoo bullshit. Then we discovered it works, slapped the term "placebo" on it and called it natural... there is no reason why this couldn't happen to telepathy and telekinesis too. Naturalists don't seem to worry about magic imho, because naturalism is borderline unfalsifiable.

It is psychologically impossible to actually believe in God. Just like you cant gaslight yourself into believing in unicorns. I didn’t stop believing in God, I simply accepted the fact that I didn’t believe in him once I realized that it made bo difference whether I did or not. People only keep believing in God because everyone else around them does and they’re afraid of being rejected by them.

I came to realize there was no God when my uncle Remus took me behind his shed and made me suck on hose with mayonnaise coming out of it while blindfolded. He then gave me a copy of the God Delusion by Saint Richard Dawkins and told me "this is between me and you, don't tell your parents". So the next day I told my mom and dad I was an atheist and refused to join them at Sunday service. Horrified, they asked "Why have you forsaken Jesus!" I told them "I have no time to explain", so i put my fedora on, sashayed my cape in front of them and took my walking stick out the door and headed down to Rusty Trombone where my uncle and I had our secret atheist meetings where we would take drinks of mayonnaise out of the ritual hose while wearing blindfolds, and then light a pentagram on the floor and read the Holy book, the aforementioned God Delusion backwards until Saint Richard would appear. To this day I thank my uncle for taking me out of the church and speaking truth to power.

Nothing.
