I see very often online from leftist/marxist commentator channels such as Al Jazeera, BadEmpanada, and Uncivilized that throughout history the evil Americans and Europeans colonized and oppressed the poor innocent Arabs, Africans, and Latin Americans, and they still brainwash them to this day via media and politics. Which gets me wondering, as westerners, are we still allowed to appreciate ourselves despite all the damage that has been caused? Are the Global South ever blameless in their conduct, or at least cannot be brought up their faults without blaming the white man?The way I see it, Iberians are allowed to take pride, but not the Anglo-Germanics.

Damage is unavoidable on a long enough timeline with enough power, we have to acknowledge it, but the voices demanding the whole conversation to be just about that are a loud minority. Anglo-Germanics are allowed to take pride in their values, it's just difficult when their values are so (intentionally) cosmopolitan that they are barely discernable. Which, ironically, makes cosmopolitanism more difficult to achieve because foreigners are asked to integrate into a culture that has no clear limits and tenets besides current law. Don't get me wrong, there are dozens of ways in which Germans are special (in both positive and negative ways). In their perspectives, attitudes, the way they don't get less robotic when they're drunk... but if you asked me to draw you an average German family and an average Portugese family, I'd struggle with the former a whole lot.

>>18545991The real question is why are you even listening to these people? They clearly hate white people and they openly admit to wanting to dismantle western civilization. If you're a white person then they are your enemy. A lot of people seem to labor under the misapprehension that these people are operating in good faith and that if you only make enough concessions then they will stop, but they will not. There is no amount of penance you can do to satisfy these people. They will always demand you from you. Even if they bring up valid criticisms of the west it should not be heeded as it is not done with good intentions, they are merely trying to use your own values against you, without ever holding themselves to the same standards. You should not view them as political commentators, they are subversive elements in society.
