How do atheists deal with Hell, and the idea they could end up there if they're wrong? Asking because I'm an agnostic myself, and I often find myself feeling anxious over it.
Protip: hell is a state of mind (the state of suffering). You'll be trapped in that state if you cannot avoid guilt. It is not an external place.
>>18546053If I told you that you have to prostrate and chant "alamalaghalanapatanalabhalamalala" 20 times a day or else on your 60th birthday you'll be struck deaf and blind and lose all your limbs and have immense chronic pain for the rest of your life would you then start feeling "anxiety" over that? Because hell is equally as made up as what I just told you.
>>18546053Reposting this:I have inner peace. The monkey mind has gone silent. If you tell me things like>maybe there's a pink elephant in your closetIt rolls off my consciousness like drops of water on a freshly waxed car. This is the bliss of sobriety. No thought is given to fantasies. Nobody tells me what is real. I experience it.
>>18546071What is real?
>>18546053see: Pascal's Wager and refutations
>>18546053The same way I deal with any other non-credible threat. It's intuitively below the threshold of consideration. You can up the stakes all you want, anything times 0 is 0.
>>18546053>could end upThe atheist view is simply "no I could not".
>>18546123>The atheist view is simply "no I could not".You don't know that, thougbait, so why lie to yourself like that?
>>18546127I do know that actually. I'm not scared of monsters under my bed either.
>>18546131Why are atheists always delusion about what they think they "know"?
>>18546133>How do you deal with the fact that you could turn into a balloon in the next five seconds?>No I could not>You don't know that, why do you lie to yourself?>I do know that>Why are non-ballooners always so delusional about what they think they "know"?
>>18546127I like how you immediately assumed that was my view.
>>18546053Same way Christians deal with the idea they could go to Muslim hell and vice versa: dismissively.
>>18546053hell is a human idea, there you go.
>>18546053Agnostics view it this way: in islam the worst thing you can do is worship something that isn't God (shirk), so if you're going through your life being a good agnostic you can still approach whatever God you meet down the Road and still come out of it potentially okay, saying that yeah well i know my faith was subpar but at least i didn't commit shirk... likewise with christianity, if judaism is right then you'd be worshiping a false messiah... so an agnostic atheist would Simply live as though there isn't a God because commiting to a God would be negative
>>18546206But doesn't this mean Pascal's Wager would posit Christianity as the religion to believe?
>>18546053You must be really stupid to be scared of fairytales.
>>18546679Fear is irrational, and for some people, not having closure can be worse than death.
>>18546683In that case, visit a psychologist.
