We're now on the 40th day of my daily presidents threads celebrating the 250th anniversary of the USA.Today we have George H. W. Bush (6/12/1924 - 11/30/2018), who served as president from 1989 to 1992. Prior to being president he served as a pilot in the navy during WW2, as a representative of Texas, the ambassador to the UN, the chair of the RNC, chief of the liaison office to China, director of the CIA, and as Reagan's Vice President through both terms. Notable actions or events during his presidency include the Fall of Communism and the Dissolution of the Soviet Union, the Gulf War, the Invasion of Panama, NAFTA, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Immigration Act, the Clean Air Act Amendments, the Oil Pollution Act, Texas v. Johnson, the Decade of the Brain, Operation Restore Hope, and the Early 90's Recession. What do you think of the guy who hated broccoli?Link to previous thread>>18549919
>>18551137Average space filler president, also he had a beef with broccoli.
Bush was a big supporter of the Flag Protection Act of 1989 which criminalized desecration of the American flag, but was immediately challenged and shot down by the Supreme Court on 1st Amendment grounds. He grumbled afterwards that he would like it made into a constitutional amendment to prevent court challenges.
strictly a foreign policy president, the recession and Republican exhaustion at the executive branch after 12 years sunk him
Is OP going to cuck out and stop making president threads for presidents after 2001, or attempt to run it to the end zone?
>>18551239Thank fucking God for that. NOT being able to desecrate the flag goes against everything the flag stands for.Why the fuck would he even try to make it illegal?
>>18551137Probably the most corrupt freak to ever become President, directly responsible for Bin Laden becoming a thing, directly responsible for the Middle East shit show to this day, held Republicans back for at least 20 years.
>>18551355Obviously we have to follow the board rules so the thread about Clinton will be the last one.
>>18551391We can still discuss everything up to 9/11, which is practically George II's entire deal.
>>18551137
>>18551398Only the first five months of his presidency is on-topic though.
>>18551407Seems fake. I bet he read the same thing happened to JFK so he copied it. Absolute frauds.
>>18551391Technically all the presidents who served after Clinton were alive before 2001, we could just have a thread about what they were doing before 2001
>>18551454I figure a thread about everything Trump was doing before 2001 would get deleted pretty fast, but it'd be interesting. He was arguably more fascinating back then, the epitome of US capitalist culture.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfMqgdOA5PM&t=189
>>18551355Unless a mod swoops into the thread and gives me express permission tomorrow's thread will be the last one I makeI don't see a point in making a thread about dubya if we're only able to talk about 1/8 of his term
>>18551658If the mods actually watched and cared about this board they'd obviously allow it. So of course they won't.
>>18551444> seems fakeWell then I guess it's a good thing they filmed him being pulled out of the waterhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=be3N4LaFekM
>>18551137He was good at handling the end of the Cold War and Desert Storm is a pretty masterful example of how general post-Cold War international relations should have gone for the U.S. But he was absolute dogshit domestically, dealt (poor) with a recession, sold out his actual beliefs in a failed effort to appeal to the christcuck right further legitimizing them, dithered about on effectively handling the L.A. Riots while the police fucked around. Overall not very good.>>18551420>>18551658Eh, nah despite what an overzealous janny would do (not much seeing the state of the board), Bush's presidency in its entirety should be a go because you can't really discuss the first few months. Then again, the rule should be 20 years not 25. So just end it with Dubya.
>>18551675>dithered about on effectively handling the L.A. Riots while the police fucked aroundto be fair that wasn't really the president's problem, it was strictly a local matter
>>18551680It was clear very early on that the police couldn't and didn't really want to handle it. The LAPD has always been historically shitty so thinking they were going to do anything was at best naive.
>>18551680Technically he always had the authority to nationalize the California National Guard and use it to put down the riots.
>>18551675he stood up against the McCarthyite pitchfork mob who were calling to nuke China after Tiananmen Square
>>18551675>sold out his actual beliefs in a failed effort to appeal to the christcuck right further legitimizing them>Pat Robertson said something mean about us wonderful gays once ffs >:(
"I don't like broccoli and I didn't like it when I was a kid and my mother made me eat it."
>>18551798Why has nobody made a wojak of this?
>had absolutely no recollection of what he was doing on Nov. 22, 1963, quite possibly the only American older than 5 who was unable to remember that day.[3]
>>18551805he was at some minor Republican meeting, schizo
>>18551699The fucking Sunbelt retarded christfaga hated H.W. because he was a coastal educated blue blood who acted like it. Him trying to appeal to them was retarded because they still hated him for the same reason. Speaking of, I forgot about his really empowering and springboarding Roger Ailes to relevancy.
>>18552028>coastfags>educatedThere's a difference between educated and intelligent. Remember how Quayle couldn't spell potato correctly?
Like Nixon his own party never controlled Congress so it's hard to say what he would have done with that.
>>18551137In 1988 he did rather poorly in the Midwest which did not benefit from the overall prosperity of the era. It looks like he won a major landslide if you only saw the electoral maps but he really just got 53% of the popular vote and Democrats retained control of Congress.
>>18553224>>18551137And President Bush said, "Read my lips"
>>18552119Sunbelters are retarded and book learnin' is basically seen as elitist witchcraft for them.
