Why didn't indians assimilate in the US? Unlike how the gauls eventually turned into romans, the indians still think of themselves as distinct people seperate from americans. There are pictures of them flicking off mount rushmore or burning american flags, and most of them support the "Land Back" movement which promotes the genocide of europeans. Why did assimilation fail?

Contrary to popular belief, the more settled, politically centralized, and "civilized" a tribe was, in other words, the closer it was to western culture, the more likely they were to die horribly.
