In September 1813 she fought at the Battle of the Göhrde and was wounded there by cannister shot. This led to her "discovery" - three weeks later she died. Krüger joined the Colberg Grenadier Regiment in 1813 also disguised as a men. She was soon discovered but had served with such distinction that King Friedrich Wilhelm III. of Prussia allowed her to stay in the army and serve openly as a women. At the Battle of Dennewitz in September 1813 she was wounded and due to her bravery promoted to an NCO and got awarded the Iron Cross 2nd Class.
