Its always funny when third-worlders switch between ethiopia was never colonized to try to portray it as a powerful symbol of anti-colonial resistance and saying actually it was colonized to cope with it still ending up a shithole
How do Rastas reconcile their belief in the divinity of Haile Selassie with the historical accounts of his assassination, the secret burial of his body beneath a public toilet, and the prolonged desecration of his remains?
>>18576772You copied this post from another thread, I remember seeing it.
>>18576772>ethiopia was never colonizedIt was invaded, same with France and Poland. You do know it was a full member of the LN?>it as a powerful symbol of anti-colonial resistance and saying actually it was colonized to cope with it still ending up a shithole.Well it got invaded by a state that was prepping up for the war for years, was marching troops on the border and was basically left to fend for itself despite the constant warnings to other member states and said state used mustard gas and targeting civvies. It put up a fight even after losing the invasion with various internal guerilla groups and rebels.
>>18576772>anti-colonial>participated in colonialism itselfThe premise was flawed to begin with
>>18576982Ethiopia was a regional empire so it's an imperial state. You can be empire but have no colonies, onnthe other hand you can be just a plain state and do carry and expand colonies. Makes the dynamic complex because in Ethiopia the beef is with the state in the same way a guy can hate the feds in the US.
>>18578337Semantics. Ethiopia was expanding itself and settling its people at the expense of numerous other groups
>>18578344>Ethiopia was expanding itself and settling its peopleNot really in most places. In several it's "people" were actually in a precarious and disadvantaged state. Ethiopia didn't really have a "main ethnic group".>at the expense of numerous other groupsMany were actually direct participants in the imperial government. I'm not sure if you know but a lot of your statements can and dies apply to many historical African states back then and among many of the core imperial states if we totally left out their colonial holdings (as in France proper rather than the whole empire)
>>18578355>Ethiopia didn't really have a "main ethnic group".Yes they did, they are called the Amhara>Many were actually direct participants in the imperial government.Nilotes, Hararis, lowland Oromos and Somalis were absolutely not participants of the imperial government
>>18578468/thread. The ethopian rulers had lots of slaves too
