Let us remind ourselves of how France singlehandedly BTFO the entire European continent for over 2 decades.
1789 was the year where real USA truly died...https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Articles_of_Confederation
>>18576820If the Jacobins had not been so schizophrenic, they would have remained in power and radical republicanism would have survived.
>>18576884The Jacobins were an anarchic soup with factions occasionally rising to power. The Montagnards main base was the Sans Culottes. The Girondins, meanwhile, were moderate Republicans, representing the interests of the bourgeoisie. The Girondin purge eliminated the last moderate influence in government, giving the radical Jacobins total control and officially launching the Reign of Terror.. The Montagnards pushed for a total transformation of French society, which they viewed as fundamentally corrupt.
>>18576820How did Denmark and Norway ended up allied with France ? Never heard about this.
>>18576820It turned out to hold two forgers, two insane, one noble locked away by his own family for fucking his family members, and some personal belongings of the recently evicted Marquis de Sade, and was more an administrative building and a warehouse, than an actual prison. One of the stupidest events in history if you ask me.
>>18578460It was an armory, the mob really wanted the gunpowder stored there.
>>18578463Four forgers, not two.
>>18578466The mob believed that there were thousands of prisoners held in dungeons, based on the fictional Man in the Iron Mask, and Marquis de Sade who gave slanderous speeches to the crowds from the prison itself.
>>18578463It was also full of guns and ammo which helped the revolution
how the FUCK did the 1st Republic do so well? How do you just obliterate your centuries of military experience and protocol and replace it with a bunch of jumped up peasants and win?
>>18578463>and some personal belongings of the recently evicted Marquis de SadeIncluding 120 Days of Sodom which he secretly wrote on little strips of paper and then stuffed into a crevice in the wall.
France went from a Monarchy, to a Republic, to a Monarchy, to a Republic, to a Monarchy, to a Republic, to a Fascist Client State, and finally to a Republic again, all in the span of roughly 150 years. Kind of wild when you think about it
>>18578795Don't forgot commie Paris of 1871 and 1873 monarchy popular vote
1st empire > 1st republic > 2nd empire (first half) > 3rd republic > 2nd republic > 2nd empire (second half) > fourth republicsimple as
>>18577372See your southern neighbors getting curbstomped tends to make the pickled fish eaters side with the biggest guy around, they did the same in WW2.
>>18578889Oh, yeah fourth Republic collapse after losing Algeria.>>18577372Would you be pissed if there was a surprise attack on your own navy?https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Copenhagen_(1807)
>>18576820>France BTFOed Europe>Until the Directory and Napoleon threw away three generations of young boys and France never recovered hegemonic status>Germany BTFOed the allies for four and then six years!>Until they threw away multiple generations of young boys and incalculable amounts of materiel, shattering the physical landscape of the country and even forever altering its genetics thanks to slavic rapist invaders.Hmmm, so it turns out the only ingredient necessary for brief, foolhardy resistance is to have no idea when to surrender, permanently destroying your country in the process? Very cool.
>>18576820based france taking sp*in's dogshit brownmpire away from them :)
>>18578784Mostly because their enemies had internal or other problems elsewhere; the Prussian and Russians rather infamously were busy butchering Poland around this time so they half-assed their commitment to defeating the French. The British Army meanwhile was always an underfunded and neglected institute as the British government was more interested in the Navy and picking off French colonies around the world while avoiding mainland Europe.
>>18578795Tbh the Third Republic is what impresses me most. Despite loosing Alsace Lorraine and having to pay huge war debts, their economy still boomed, they became massive creditors for Russia and the Ottomans and the Balkans, and they remained the cultural hearthrob of the world throughout the Belle Epoque. It's a real success story of recovering from defeat.
>>18579488>American flagDisgusting...
