Not immediately it didn't. The Anglo-Irish Treaty dissolved the Irish Republic and kickstarted a harsh British-backed counter revolution. Ireland remained a Dominion of the Empire until the 1940s, with the IRA (and other Republicans/dissidents) executed or imprisoned en masse.

The Republic of Ireland has very little to do with the Irish revolution, it is a repainted Dominion akin to Canada if it became fully severed from Britain.
