What’s stopping the Cultural Revolution and Great Leap Forward from being rehabilitated to being harsh but necessary like the Meiji Restoration, American Civil War, Industrial Revolution etc?
>>
>>18585202
That's literally how wumaos defend it right now lol
>>
>>18585205
Are they wrong?
>>
>>18585202
Necessary for what? Both campaigns failed.
>>
>>18585210
China to grow and protect itself from imperialist vultures.
>>
>>18585209
Obviously
>>
>>18585213
The Great Leap Forward firmed a lot of rural infrastructure and lifted millions out of poverty.
>>
>>18585202
Because the official CPC stance was that the "great leap" was an absolute disaster and they purged the party of extremists even when Mao was still alive. When Mao died, all the supporters of the cultural revolution were purged by Deng and the other moderates.
>>
>>18585221
So the CCP was just incompetent until the cultural revolution happened?
>>
>>18585227
The CCP was incompetent until Mao died and the subsequent Cultural Revolution gave the moderates the justification to mobilize their various armies to coup the gang of four and fix the country.
>>
>>18585202
doing a mass psyop campaign to completely revise history that recent is not really possible.
>>
>>18585202
Time. A bunch of people who had absolutely horrible experiences during the cultural revolution and Great Leap Forward are still alive. Plus none of the examples you listed were rehabilitated wholesale. The industrial revolution still had some terrible consequences with lingering harmful effects, Japan did benefit long term from unification and modernization despite the costs, and the American civil war was subject to immediate revisionism by the lost cause movement with modern reexamination of that really just trying to get through the propaganda.
>>
>>18585366
Much more recent and more influential events have been revised
>>
>>18585421
The American Civil War expanded the US from coast to coast and created the legal framework that allowed industrials to commandeer any number of people required to expand any local industry, which was necessary to integrate the territories economically.

Lost Cause were right at preserving history.

Because smashing Buddha statues and other cultural artifacts doesn’t fix shit and is quite literally no different from ISIS melting down artifacts and King Henry VIII’s destruction of English monasteries. Even the Chinese government acknowledges the cultural revolution was a disaster and instead tries to absolve Mao of any blame and spin the whole thing on the Gang of Four.
>>
>>18586250
Everything you described led to the shit outcomes of today, so you point does not stand.
>>
I fucking hate sparrows and I'm glad they did what they did.
>>
>>18585366
lol
>>
>>18585211
What makes China itself not an "Imperialist Vultutre"?
Protip; Marxism is not a justification.
>>
>>18586901
>Because smashing Buddha statues and other cultural artifacts doesn’t fix shit
Purging elements of an inferior culture affords room to build a superior culture.
>>
>>18587719
Artifacts aren’t “inferior culture.” By your logic ISIS was justified in smashing cultural heritage in Iraq and Syria
>>
>>18587737
Their actions are justified, the reasons aren't. The artifacts of an inferior culture do not deserve to be preserved.
>>
>>18587746
>t. ISIS
>>
>>18585202
Not happening anytime soon unfortunately. Liberal teachers don't want to lose cushy jobs and get deported to the countryside like they deserve.
