Hell makes no sense. It makes no sense for God to torture billions of humans for an eternity. It accomplishes absolutely nothing but needless cruelty. That's why every Christian argument around Hell is either blaming the victim or reinventing what Hell actually is (Annihilationism, simple rejection of God, Universalism). God has no need to torture people for an eternity, and the punishment loses all its meaning after a single day. Moreover, it makes every sin from white lies to genocide stand on the same line. It would mean people who experienced nothing but suffering in their life would experience even greater suffering than they lived. It would mean that loads of oppressed people will be suffering, while their oppressors will be standing with God. It's an objectively immoral and pointless punishment that makes no sense, when you consider some of the actions (or straight-up thought crimes) people have.

>TL;DR: The concept of God, in any recognizable form, involves not one, but a cascading series of impossibilities, incoherencies, and contradictions, any one of which is sufficient to dismiss the notion out of hand, but which taken together render the likelihood of God’s existence to be practically zero. Moreoever, there is precisely no evidence in favor of God existing. The only rational conclusion is that God does not exist.

The teaching of the existence of hell is a skillful means for guiding very small-minded people who don't understand empathy or compassion for others.

Some people only respond to and understand things in terms of immediate reward or obvious punishment and so saying things like "if you do bad things to other people it's bad in the long run for all people including yourself" in a roundabout way doesn't do anything and they go on doing bad.

But if you teach them that if they do bad things then they are going to be tortured for a trillion dodectillion infinities of aeons by terrifying demons in a sea of fire, they might have immediate fear of the obvious punishment and stop doing bad things in the short term.

Then this small act of turning them away from evil might lead them to becoming more open to greater teachings in the long term and eventually you can reveal to them that hell is not a literal thing.

Like helping teach someone to swim by leading them into shallow water first, not by tossing them into the deep

Hell is just temporary punishment or purgatory. Jesus suffered temporarily on his followers' behalf

Will I actually enjoy burning? If the flames keep getting hotter they'll eventually reach a point where they're incredibly unpleasant, but how hot do they actually start? Like campfire hot or magma hot? It'd probably just feel really warm for the first few minutes.

It's pretty evident that God is evil from this alone.

God hates his creations, we've established this. The only path is to beg for mercy.

What if it is just a place where the wicked are dumped solely because they need to go somewhere else than Heaven, and that’s it?

Pretty much everyday I wake up im fuming at people who rape and murder and get away with it because of our corrupt government, and I'm a disgusting, immoral lazy rat who is so incompetent I cant even get a low end job.

God is perfect and holy, and an everlasting hell shows that He takes sin so seriously that our mind can't even comprehend it. His perfect wrath, hatred, justice and punishment is impossible for us to understand. However, His perfect longsuffering and mercy also makes it so that there won't be a single person left with an excuse for why they rejected to be in Christ so they could be cleansed from their sin and be saved from the wrath of God.

If everything in the Bible was something we could understand, then what would be the difference between us and God if the Bible is the mind of God? Obviously we don't have all the information and understanding so trying to explain hell is not possible for us, it's still there because it's real and true. Trying to explain the Bible away from being the truth with an argument like this is pointless.

Virtually all modern historians and biblical scholars agree that Jesus of Nazareth was a real historical figure. Jesus’ disciples fled when He was betrayed by Judas Iscariot. They were nowhere to be found when He was crucified. However, fifty days later, they were boldly proclaiming that Christ had risen from the dead. If they were part of the conspiracy then what motivated them to spend the rest of their lives knowingly promoting this fraud? Especially when preaching about the risen Christ resulted in their persecution and eventual death. It does not make any sense. They could have lived comfortable lives in the world if they just stopped.

What was the motivation for the apostles to go through so much suffering just for a lie?

There is no explanation that makes sense, but people don't want to admit the truth. God is real and salvation cannot be achieved by us, only by Him.

>reinventing what Hell actually is (Annihilationism, simple rejection of God, Universalism)
Given that "reinventing" probably means anything besides biblical literalism in a post like yours, I gotta ask: why is it wrong to "reinvent" hell?

Jews don't believe in Hell, only Sheol. Hell is just one of many examples of how Christards took Judaism and completely corrupted it into something that's twice as retarded and makes less sense.

Eternal hell isn't actually in the Bible

OP here. Also I'd like to use this thread as an opportunity to discuss my god Shiva.

Same thing goes for heaven, who actually wants to exist for all eternity even if its in "paradise" or whatever. That just sounds tiring

Good question. What if hell is just a place like any other, and they make up the idea that you'll be tortured eternally there so you'll be afraid of it?
>>

This. The confusion likely came about early on because some Christians imported Plato's belief in the immortality of the soul into the New Testament, and then it got reified in English translations that 1. eliminated the meaningful distinction between Hades and Gehenna and 2. translated aion and related words as eternal wherever possible even though that isn't the only available option, which is how early Christians could even argue for eventual universal salvation, let alone the absence of eternal torment.

Well guess what you're too stupid to know what's right and wrong therefore stfu.
