I want to know who the fuck the Yayoi people were. They are the origin of what we basically recognize as Japanese culture and society, yet their genealogical origins are a mystery. In terms of cultural legacy, the Yayoi are far, far more influential and important to Japan. By the time the immigrants who would become the Yayoi came to Japan they already had developed a somewhat sophisticated agricultural society that they simply transplanted from the mainland onto Japan. So who were these agriculturalists? What elements of the Yayoi culture are imported from Asia, and which ones did they adapt from the Jomon? It's impossible to answer this without knowing who they are.
