Every time I see the ruins of one, I think about all the people who lived there for centuries, sitting by windows that are now just skeletal remains, deep in though or gazing over their lands; walking on wooden floors that have long rotted away. Imagine moving between the floors lit by the flickering candlelight, hearing the creak of timber, the scent of roasted meat drifting from the kitchens, tapestries moving slightly by a draft through the corridors.
