if you could go back in time

and see historical everyday people in the medieval era, or the ancient roman era.

How different would their mannerisms be? I'm not talking about language. More like their facial ticks. I heard Romans, when they spoke, they gesticulated a lot. In very exaggerated ways. The ind of stuff that nobody really writes about except modern purple prose writers. But ancient writers didn't describe much about sutle mannerisms.

If you could go back in time, and see it, would their mannerisms look very alien?

And to elaborate further on Roman gesticulation. They would move their hands exaggerated constantly, and even gesticulate with their whole bodies. They had so many gesticulations, it could work as essentially sign language. They probably had to do that a lot when interacting with other peoples that didn't speak Latin.

You can see this in real life today. You just have to go to Staten Island, find a group of people and ask one of them what the best Pizza place is.
