If we cannot even get leaders to represent us entirely in kind, to enshrine our preferred ideals, what is the practical use of having democracy? If we cannot even elect moral and decent people anymore. Clearly, it doesn't work anymore, especially not on a grand scale of a country.

OK so the elite establishment doesn't feel obligated to deliver on their mandate whenever it contradicts their preferred policy. Now we abolish elections. Then what?

The fact that 99.999% of the establishment appears to hate the shit out of us does not inspire much hope that one of them will suffer a mental breakdown, deign to betray his class and become the people's Caesar, and then win.

This was tried in 1786, 1791, 1861, and other times, when is the elite going to learn their lesson? How many more times will the People have to rise up before they learn not to mess with our lives?

How many more times will it take, Anon?

We had good presidents, we had a good run, but now it's all corroding. The country is rusting. It was not made of gold, gentlemen. If it were, we might as well be next to God.

You mean when will the elites' interests perfectly align with the People's? Probably not tomorrow, meaning tomorrow is not the best time to take enormous pressure off the elites by abolishing democracy

When you've got a horde of indignant peasants pounding on the gates of the palace, that will be the time to hurl this sort of meaningless incendiary rhetoric. Not now.

The times we consider paradises were times when the interests of the elite, for whatever reason, happened to coincide with that of the peasantry. The obvious example is medieval Europe, where, out of some combination of the traditions of Germanic oath and the Roman manor, there was a sense of harmony throughout society. This has of course lately been refuted by historians who show how actually everything was poopy and dirty and disease ridden and miserable and gray, not at all like Robin Hood.

There was also an element of luck to the utopian air to medieval life. There was a lull in technological advancement in a way that seemed to benefit society. Based on the way the elites were happy to marshal up confederations of foreign tribes to fight wars, if they had been capable of importing hordes of Indians to till the soil and build SaaS Javascript apps, they probably would have done so. But the technology made that impossible.

It is of course hypothetical what I said here because I don't think anything will happen as I do believe all of these contingent circumstances have been accounted for

Still when put in the perspective of history, you would think they would know better

LMAO, imagine believing democracy was anything else but a mask to hide the totalitarian regimes ruling the west.

100% false. You should be charged with terrorism and put in prison with all the other parasitic trash like billionaires.

Retaliating against me only proves me right, you cannot even forgive your fellow man for stating how monstrous we all are

You know who would forgive me though?

God would

as others have said, giving up on democracy in favour of even more entrenched and immune rulers would just make current problems worse. but democracy has been twisted into an incoherent puppet show to hide boring old class and caste systems. but you can help your own little community, practice self-determination, work with your neighbours to be less dependent on those fat old cunts in some capital city far away. doesn't matter if people call it democracy or treason, just stick together and make life better for your family and friends. a better world IS possible.
