What's your dream historical adaptation for TV or film? You can pretend Hollywood is still capable of making good things for this post.

For me, it's the story of the Sons of Tiberius, Drusus and Germanicus
>short enough for a 2 hour movie
>get the whole political situation of the augustan court in the background with all the big names
>the wars in germany
>drusus' near madness in battle, how he would chase enemy generals around the field in an effort to win the spolia optima in single combat
>his death and germanicus' wild ride to his side, killing multiple horses beneath him so he could be at his brother's side as he died
>germanicus' eventual death and all of the controversy around it: was he poisoned or assassinated? was drusus?

An adaptation of Rome's Longest Century (Pedro Barcelo) and Julian (Gore Vidal). Mainly a juxtaposition of Constantius II and Julian, but also a TV series adaptation of the Constantinian Dinasty
>Season 1: Constantine's rise to power
>Season 2: Constantius II youth and rise to power
>Season 3: Mostly Julian, but also a bit of Constantius. Ends in cliffhanger, woth Julian marching against Constantius
Season 4: Civil war, Julian as sole emperor and his war against the persians

I was going to say a biography of Fumiko Kaneko, the Japanese anarchist who tried to assassinate Hirohito, but I looked it up and it sort of already exists, in the form of a Gook film about her equally anarchist husbando. Guess I know what I'm watching tonight.

An HBO Rome style drama about the 410 sack of the city centered around Stilicho, Alaric, and Honorius would be kino. It’s what I’d make if I was a director. There’s a lot of personal conflicts there.

>The Goths are little more than armed refugees fighting to survive as a people
>Family drama with Stilicho raising Honorius only for the little shit to betray him in the end
>Huge battle scenes
>Stilicho and Alaric were friends at one point and always respected each other
>The Senate acting like a bunch of scheming kikes and basically causing the fall of the west because of it
>The slowly rising threat of the Huns
>Wars in Scotland, Gaul, Italy, the Balkans, and Syria
>Christianity BTFO paganism
>St Augustine, St Patrick, Hypatia, and maybe a young Attila being around

A smart writer could do a lot with this time period

I would choose the 30 Years War. Possibly a story inspired by Peter Hagendorf of whom we have an existing diary. Hagendorf had quite the career and fought in Switzerland, northern Italy and eventually back in Germany. There he took part in the Siege and Sack of Magdeburg where he was severely wounded. From that point onward he functioned as a clerk and sometimes even a military judge. For a movie those parts are probably boring but the diary gives a good insight into the everyday life of a soldier - even if he was a privleged one.
There is a little video from a german production about him but this one is only 5 minutes long, as it is part of a longer episode about the 30 Years War.
