>>18612673But God is obviously a personal being in all abrahamic religions. Are you saying that abrahamic religions can't be harmonized with greek natural theology? That would be a big problem for them to be sure. What does it mean for "the One" to "do" anything in particular? Can "the One" intervene within creation in some special sense? Can "the One" hear and answer your prayers? Can "the Good" be loved by some and not by others? (if not, what is the point of conversion? same goes for Aristotelian nous)Does it make sense to say that someone litterally *is* the logos or the nous?Does it make sense to say that psyche or pneuma acts somewhere is some special sense, as opposed to everywhere at all times? It's weird that these questions are never asked and that christians just assume that this framework proves their religion, when it actually refutes it and all religions.
One thing I noticed is that christians dont actually have meaningful replies to most criticism its just>CHRIST IS KING COPE>WHAT ABOUT ISLAM PEDO PROPHET???>repeating the criticism in a mocking tone

>>18613785You're completely braindead. Every Christian in the world who has opened a Bible is aware of other religions and nonbelievers because of all the fucking conversion and missionary and proselytizing in Christianity. It's literally the most basic shit, Christians try to convert others. Braindead lmao
This dude is seething over Christianity thinking he can embarrass people by pointing out that many people are born into Christianity, as if that implies they have no awareness of other religions, when the whole point of Christianity is conversion. Every single book in the Bible deals with believers and nonbelievers. He's projecting his own retardation because he's never ever questioned the things he was born into, he thinks everyone else is that retarded kek
>>18613797>>18613793>Every Christian in the world who has opened a Bible is aware of other religions and nonbelievers because of all the fucking conversion and missionary and proselytizing in Christianitymost christians never even read the fucking bible cover to cover let alone actually cared whats written there. god literally gives moral law about permanent chattle slavery being ok and yet how many christians today would say they approve slavery? lmao.
>>18613805So you've completely humiliated yourself and basically admit that your point that the existence of other religions should cause Christians to doubt their religion was retarded projection on your part because everyone who's ever even stepped into a Church has heard the pastor talking about believers and nonbelievers. I also notice you keep talking about "most Christians" so I'd like to address what you're doing. You're bringing up that millions of Africans call themselves Christian, and maybe go to a church, but are still retarded apes. I don't care. That has no effect whatsoever on European Christianity. It's meaningless. It's your choice to fixate on retarded apes because they're working at your level. If a chemist learned that tons of Africans bought chemistry sets and got chemistry degrees from University of Zambia and blew themselves up mixing gunpowder and gasoline, he would not doubt the laws of thermodynamics. He just wouldn't give a shit.
>>18613805Nta but you're right. Most Christians fail to take their proposed convictions very seriously and few have actually engaged with the whole of scripture. That fact produces people like me who, even though I spent my life reading scripture annually, wanted nothing to do with religion or God because the vast majority of "His believers" give Him a bad rep. This is not a new phenomena and in the earliest chapters of C.S. Lewis' "Screwtape Letters", the new convert the novel is centered around deals with this same experience. It is one of the ways in which the Adversary tests us and drives us away from God.I hope that if you ever take it upon yourself to engage with His word that you find something to help you separate its goodness and the reality of sinning saints faster than I was able to. I'll be praying for you.
>>18613816You are giving him way too much credit, he is a retarded ape whose only way of attacking Christianity is to find other retarded apes like him calling themselves Christian and acting dumb. But you are right that no one should ever stop doing something out of a desire to be le based contrarian because other people are embarrassing themselves doing it
>>18613814>So you've completely humiliated yourself and basically admit that your point that the existence of other religions should cause Christians to doubt their religion was retarded projection on your part because everyone who's ever even stepped into a Church has heard the pastor talking about believers and nonbelievers.i never said no christians have ever heard of other religions or nonbelievers, you seem to be mentally retarded.i argued that you as a christcuck dont have an argument why anyone should believe in your specific version of god as opposed to a god of other religions who also make the same argument about "look at the trees! they prove my version of god! qran says allah created everything, and that proves allah!">I also notice you keep talking about "most Christians" so I'd like to address what you're doing. Christianity is a path through life that I've found extremely edifying. It's never bothered me that God is angry or punishes people because I find anger to be a healthy, clarifying emotion. So does everyone else who chooses to use 4chan. I feel similarly about punishment. I would not be pleased to wake up tomorrow and find out God had abolished all punishment. That would make my life miserable. As for the stuff about the number of beetles and iron chariots, I'm humble enough to recognize that the apostoles and Martin Luther and John Calvin were men of their time, they were humans who wrote incredibly instructive and insightful things, things far more enlightening for life than what was in my physics textbooks. My life would not have turned out well guided by my physics textbooks and parents and friends alone.
>>18613816engaging in his word is what disproves christianity, god routinely punished and killed innocents. morals are subject to god's mind, therefore they are subjective, christianity is one big failed doomsday cult of authority worship where everyone ultimately believes in divine command theory and think that the bible is an inspired text of god despite it having non-trivial errors.
>>18613818feel free to prove your god exists then. the problem is you simply cant do it and can only cope around not wanting to.
>>18613825>i never said no christians have ever heard of other religions or nonbelievers, you seem to be mentally retarded.>i argued that you as a christcuck dont have an argument why anyone should believe in your specific version of god as opposed to a god of other religionsWell that's not what I saw happen. I came into the thread and told you every Christian is aware there's a non-Christian path through life they could take, and you coped by lying and saying "nuh uh, they were just born into it and didn't know" because you couldn't recall the most basic elements of Christianity and you had to project your own uncritical absorption of what was impressed on you at birth>no the same applies across the world, people everywhere are overwhelmingly most likely to believe in the top religion around themYou are failing at basic logic lmfao. You are trying to say "people do a thing therefore that implies they HAVE to do that thing and never CHOSE to do it". Seriously bizarre failure of rational thought>2. christcucks cant be racists like you, the blacks are also made in the image of god and arent any less valuable to god.Schizo nonsense that again fails basic children's logic. God created blacks and He ordained a civil order in which those blacks were enslaved. He had no problem with it. Slavery is just a way of life, you work and get paid with food and a house instead of money. Literal nothingburger. God allowing slavery is like God allowing blisters and stomach achesare you a nigger whose ancestors were enslaved so it's a touchy subject for you? Sorry. >>18613829It's a religion, you don't prove it. You have to have faith. It's this thing. It's called religion.
It's always funny when people approach a religion famous for requiring faith and go HOW COULD I POSSIBLY NEED FAITH? DOOMSDAY CULT FAILED KEK CONTRADICTORY ILLOGICAL REEEEWhy did these types even approach it in the first place? They hate the idea of faith?
>>18613836>every Christian is aware there's a non-Christian path through life they could take, and you coped by lying and saying "nuh uh, they were just born into it and didn't know"i already proved that this is irrelevant since there is a difference between vaguely hearing a religion exists and knowing some basic things about it, and then actually learning what the religion actually says, i proved this by giving the example of slavery, where basically almost every single christian you can ask today "is owning people as property forever OK in any context?" they would say no, despite god permitting it and never abolishing it, showing they dont know their own religion, let alone "all the paths.">You are failing at basic logic lmfao. You are trying to say "people do a thing therefore that implies they HAVE to do that thing and never CHOSE to do it". Seriously bizarre failure of rational thoughtironic, you seem to be the one that is missing literally every single argument im making because you cant logic your way out of a paper bag. i literally never said they have to chose the nearby religion, i said its the most likely, which (to anyone above 80 iq) shows that no, people dont actually study and learn about all religions and then choose the proper one, they just pick the nearby one. if they studied and picked the "true" one, almost everyone would believe in 1 religion.>god allowing you to own other innocent people as property and their innocent children forever and treat them harshly is a nothingburger bro!1. so you disagree with what the church says and every christian that you could ask then, making you someone outside the church2. im glad you conceeded that your god is a barbaric piece of shit then and not "just", cheers.
>>18613851>just let me believe in fairy tales without asking me to prove them bro please!Go ahead, child. Just don't cry online when people shit on you for spouting those fairy tales you can't prove as truth.
>>18613828>god routinely punished and killed innocents. morals are subject to god's mindYes>therefore they are subjectiveNo. In theory they are objective if there is one universal orientation. In practice we deal with many subjective models because interpretive differences can have large margins of variation. >christianity is one big failed doomsday cult of authority worshipI wouldn't say that it's failed. It's become the largest religion in the world and even most forms of normative secular morals are derived from characteristically Judeo-Christian values. >everyone ultimately believes in divine command theoryI wish this were the case. There are significant portions of Christians that believe God is incidentally good. That morals are apart from His will. I think you'd join me in believing that such a thing doesn't really work with other Christian concepts. >and think that the bible is an inspired text of god despite it having non-trivial errors.Yeah, and this is another case of Christians tending to fail to engage with elements of our religion. Basically the sole verse people use to suggest divinely inspired authorship is 2 Tim 3.16. >All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousnessThe word here being translated into English is Gk. "theopneus"— "God breathed". The imagery occurs several other times in scripture and in extrascriptural literature. In every other instance it's conveyed with a sense of "life-giving". Origen, circa 180 CE, was the first to suggest it should be understood as something akin to inspiration. The tradition kinda stuck afterwards. Personally, I see scripture as infallible but not inerrant. Meaning that it is according to God's providence that His word ended up before me in the various forms I've received it. But yeah, the text itself has historical, logical, and grammatical errors. And an unending history of redaction.
>>18613853There are no fairy tales involved in Christian doctrine. In fact Christianity remains a lively and well-practiced religion by highly educated, knowledgeable Europeans because it's devoid of superstition or animism. Again you seem to have no theory of mind for Christians and assume they just believe in fairy tales, possibly projecting your own cultural history of killing newborn babies because they were born under a bad star.
>>18613861>There are no fairy tales involved in Christian doctrineOh? Great, go ahead and prove such a claim.>cultural history of killing newborn babies because they were born under a bad star. You mean like what god did to Midianite innocent babies and many others? Oh.
>>18613854You're talking to someone who is resentful of Christians for enslaving his ancestors and for following a moral code that apparently did not historically render them race-blind, and who assumes without investigating it that Christianity is a garden variety "religion", similar to Hinduism or Norse paganism, i.e., a collection of fairy tales that are fun but nonsensical stories that crucially don't explicitly offer a path through life. He is frustrated that Christianity has not fallen by the wayside as those other "religions" have
>>18613867>ad hominem since he can't prove his GodEvery time.
>>18613867I'm aware of his ire. We are called to light the path towards the physician for those who are sick, not the ones who have already found the physician. There is a time for fellowship and there is a time to humble ourselves and get down and dirty with the prostitutes, thieves, and murderers. The kinds of people that Christ made his company amongst.
>>18613865>You mean like what god did to Midianite innocent babies and many others? Again, you have no real interest in an investigation of what the Bible says or what the point of this anecdote is. The Midianites sinned, they led the Israelites into corruption and vice and immorality. This resulted in their complete erasure by the Israelites. This tells us two things:1. Sinning is bad.2. It's ok to destroy your enemies completely. The fact that you associate these things with the superstitious way your ancestors would drown a baby just because they saw a black cat and that was a bad omen, or they'd tell people there was a demon living in the river so the baby had to be drowned to appease the demon, is once again very telling projection
>>18613872Religions aren't proved>>18613874Implicit in "thieves and murderers and whores" is people of your tribe who have sinned but could with the correct guidance see the error in their ways and repent. God makes no bones about the conduct appropriate for an alien tribe, unrecognizable to your own and capable of leading your kin down desolate paths.
>>18613875aside from your ad hominem psychoanalysis of me because your mind is reeling in cognitive dissonance so its coping to paint a picture of some crazy african tribesman or whateverits interesting how you dodged>Oh? Great, go ahead and prove such a claim.almost like you cant do it. lmao.>The Midianites sinnedtheir babies certainly didnt, try again.
The only worthwhile thing to do is to offer them some perspective on why Christianity remains such a persistently influential force in world affairs:Christianity is nearly devoid of superstition, animism, or hocus pocus. Any remaining artifacts of superstition, like iron chariots or the number of species of beetles, are not necessary to the survival of Christianity. The Israelites could have lost to iron chariots ten times, and God could have made 184748292929 species of beetles, and no one would stop being Christian, because those things don't matter.
>>18613886>Religions aren't provedyours certainly cant be. correct. so there is no proof to believe in it beyond that you want it to be true.also god could descend and that would be proof beyond resonable doubt, lest you want to question reality itself, which doesnt get anyone anywhere and can always be done. so a god could, indeed, prove himsef.
>>18613888>almost like you cant do it. lmao.See >>18613886, first line>their babies certainly didnt, try again.See >>18613875, point 2
>>18613892>religion full of rituals and suprestitions that cant be proven is devoid of those things, actuallynone of these things prove your god is real anyway.>you just have to belive!so its a hocus pocus god only in your mind.
>>18613893You are implying the existence of a provable religion, which you cannnot prove the existence of. You can't even follow your own logic lol
>>18613894>its ok to kill innocent babies that didnt singlad you conceeded that.
>>18613896It is a religion yes. That's why we call it a religion and not a theorem. You're almost getting it. >only in your mind.Well, if we're interested in logic, this is again wrong. There are other Christians besides me. You're really not good at this
>>18613898i was obviously talking hypothetically how a god could prove himself, that he would have such capability if he wished so. but its fine i understand that there are people below 80 iq that cant understand hypotheticals.
>>18613886>but could with the correct guidance see the error in their ways and repent.Repentance is a product of grace, which is a gift from God and not a choice we make for ourselves or something we can convince others into. If God wills for this man to repent, he will. I don't believe he is more powerful than our God to successfully resist Him. >people of your tribeTribalism is routinely condemned in the Bible. There are no Jews or gentiles in heaven, only Christians. We are called to treat aliens and outsiders as one of our own, as we were once aliens in Egypt.
>>18613899>>its ok to kill innocent babies that didnt sinSee >>18613875 point 2>>18613902Backtracking and coping again lol, but more importantly once again not understanding what a religion is. Observable phenomena in the material world are not a requirement for a religion.
>>18613903Our faith is required to repent and we choose to be faithful. We are called to destroy alien outsiders completely as great Christians like John Underhill and others did repeatedly
>>18613900>nuh huhYou have proven me right in that you have no better argument as to the existence of your god than any muslim does. Thus showcasing my earlier point that people simply believe what religion is nearest to them, because all of them are fairy tales that cant be proven, and if anything, can be disproven.Like with the example of how none of the christcucks itt could actualy prove their god, its always preaching until we get to proof of such stories, and then they run away.>i dont need to prove what im saying, i just say that its true because i want it to be so!Indeed.
He still doesn't get the point about superstition and animism. Waiting for a material sign of God was literally the mistake his witch doctor shaman ancestors made and a big part of why they were enslaved by Christians. Waiting for a magic sign in the sky was what they did, and when they saw three red birds flying in the sign of a arrow, they knew that was a sign from God to behead three noble newborns. Literal Stone Age shit, these signs from the material world, that Christians were smart enough to understand they had to discard.
>>18613904There is nothing more to discuss with a person who believes in divine command theory, that killing babies and raping little girls like with what god did with the Midianites is OK. And to top it all off, the christcucks are so retarded they say these things are ok but when asked for proof just say you cant even expect proof, you just gotta believe that killing and raping children is ok! kek. brutal slave religion.
>>18613911>people simply believe what religion is nearest to themMassive fucking projection on your part, for the what, third time, making the unfounded, unproven assumption about Christian psyches that they believe because they were just born into it, when being born a Christian means getting assailed weekly by pastors about the alternative beliefs to Christianity and about nonbelievers. There is ample material evidence that you refuse to admit, aren't you supposed to be interested in that kind of thing lol?
>>18613908>we choose to be faithful. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God- not the result of works, so that no one may boast.Eph 2.8-9>We are called to destroy alien outsiders completelySometimes. When God sets them against us and delivers them into our hand. Most of the time though the Bible tells us to act lovingly towards all of His creation. If this guy comes at you with a spear, go ahead and destroy him. That's God's go-ahead and He will protect you.
>>18613917You are "moralfagging" about Bronze Age enemy tribes being defeated, you "moralfagged" earlier about slavery and about black people, how do you even end up like this?
>>18613923We have not "done" anything in our choice of faith and the choice produced nothing to boast about, you are quibbling over semantics
How does someone end up a "moralfag" over slavery and then get upset over what he calls "slave religion"? Are Christians the oppressors or the slaves here? Again there's no logical coherency just emotional spewing
>>18613928>this is not your own doing
His problem arises when he starts from the contradictory premises that 1. He can prove Christians are natural slaves2. He can prove Christians are natural mastersNietzsche twisted himself into the same sort of knots and came up with nonsense where Christians are the little lambs who demonize the great birds of prey, which just made him sound like Elliot Rodger: "Christians bullied me in high school but they're also very weak unlike me the blonde beast"
god is endlessly loving except for all of the people he apparently hates, and he wants to protect you from going to hell because he loves you, but he invented hell and he invented the concept of sin and he gave people free will and the ability to defy him even though he punishes defiance with eternal suffering, and he doesn't WANT to punish people with hell forever and ever but he HAS to do it okay?
>>18613942and he already knows everything so he already knows who is going to end up in hell but he has a perfect infallible plan for each and every soul to ever exist meaning some people are MEANT to go to hell even though he doesn't WANT them to, okay?
>>18613932I really don't like quibbling like this, it doesn't accomplish anything but trivia competition, but I understand it as Moses stretching his staff did not make the Red Sea parting his doing.I guess in an abstract sense you are saying the choice that we feel in our human mind is not responsible for the change in our soul when we become faithful, but Im not really invested in it either way.
>>18612431There is actually extensive theological and philosophical discussion on the problem of evil, the purpose with this meme is not, however, to actually engage with this philosophical question on an intellectual or rational level. With that in mind I guess I'll oblige the creator of this meme and those who post it by giving them my non-philosophical opinion. The whole point of life is to be given the free choice between good and evil, and to still not choose evil. Without evil there would be no choice and ultimately no virtue displayed by the person who decided not to be evil. In a way it's a test, but it's a test for the individual taking the test, not God, who already knows what the person will ultimately decide. As to why God would make someone that will ultimately find their spot in the burn pit, well I personally think His point is to demonstrate that no choice but alignment with Him is ultimately good. It is only through freely acknowledging the limits of your capacity for reason, and your incomplete ability to truly judge what is evil, that you can be saved. In essence you will find the very concept of His creation of doomed people to be offensive, so offensive in fact you may decide to not align yourself with him, therefore assigning yourself to hell.
>>18613948>Im not really invested in it either wayWhy? I find it's infinitely useful to deconstruct everything I can. Especially as it pertains to ministry.
Christians are natural slaves blinded by faith but apparently along the way they acquired some sort of morality which, if I end up on the wrong end of, could put me in the unenviable position of being enslaved by these natural slaves and that's not okay mkay. I'm definitely still a natural unfettered master though but seriously cut it out with that slave morality that is seriously making me, a natural master, uncomfortable for some reason
>>18613954Because I'm nervous about anything that hints of scholasticism which to me represented the return of a stodgy endlessly scribbling priestly caste that was determined to devolve the Church into nonsense about which part of the soul is in the stomach and what color the soul is, no better encapsulated than the dogs-heaven thing. This priestly class is uncomfortably aware of the utter absurdity of its Aristotelian logical sequences and senses it might be at the mercy of a ravenous peasant class that might expose the emperors clothes, so they get stuck forced to appease the peasants animistic superstition over their favorite pet doggo Borko and whether he'll be in heaven with them. Aquinas on his deathbed renounced all scholasticism and made his way to heaven sola fide
Basically I feel that we as Christians should be mindful not to devolve into Greek mumbo jumbo of the kind visible in say the Alcibiades dialogue, where Socrates and Alcibiades get locked in what appears to be a very "logical" conversation about power and nobility, apparently logical because nearly every statement is formatted as "X therefore Y according to Z, but Q disproves X therefore Y must be false" but when you actually read it you want to scream because there's no substance. A boy raised by wolves could become a faithful Christian but he would not know that the vegetative part of the soul is in the stomach
>>18613962Very understandable. There are many warnings against both legalism and schlasticism in scripture. And there are just as many that tell us that seeking knowledge and wisdom is a good thing. We are never condemned for asking questions or having doubts. Logically, bashing your convictions against counterarguments can lend itself to a steeled, stronger faith. Thesis with antithesis to seek synthesis. But still, simplicity is highly treasured as well. Job never wavered, never engaged with heady arguments even when they were delivered in good faith to make sense of his struggles. And he was counted amongst God's most faithful servants. I respect whatever path you take and know God will bless you all the same.
>>18613962I don't think people caring about their pets is a behavior of the peasantry or even really unique to animistic exoteric spiritual practice. I also don't think treatises on the presence of souls in non-human life is also fundamentally illogical or something the church must squirrel away lest a peasant revolt tear them down from within. Peasants, historically speaking, generally are a bit more material with their concerns. The Aristotelian logical consequences of the writings of, to use your example, Aquinas, largely escapes 70-90% of the laity. Even if you were to explain to them in detail the implicit modal collapse of a certain folksy belief, I doubt any schism would occur.

One of the more embarrassing trends in internet culture has to be the revival and spread of dead, irrelevant and myopic ideologies amongst forum users. I would lump in trans ideology, political extremism both left and right wing, scientific racism and any other convoluted anti social worldview held to by schizoids as a symbolic substitute for real world achievement. While actual respectable people are becoming engineers or doctors and starting families the internet dwelling freaks are studying up irrelevant ugly little worldviews and flinging shit at each other to justify rotting behind a keyboard. The Marxists will continue embarrassing themselves by applying 19th century political cosmology to economic processes they can't grasp. The trannies will hallucinate new frameworks to control social engagement because they're deeply terrified and resentful of their fellow man. The new reactionaries will hop from one incoherent political talking point to the next through the influence of image macros and the traditional Christian convert will learn theology, church history and develop a neurotic attachment to a priest then publicly embarrass themselves at their workplace or church trying to preach the merits of the tridentine mass or essence energy distinction and then silently withdraw from the faith that they adopted when they finally confront the fact that it did not make their lives better or make them look cool and thoughtful to others. Meanwhile the world outside keeps turning.

>>18614559>just ignore your most basic biological and social needs bro, who cares if you can't have sex and condemned to be alone?>just ignore how the whole human society works bro, who cares if you are broke and condemned to never escape the poverty pit?>just ignore your brain and emotions bro, who cares if you're depressed and wanna kill yourself cause you can't stand your miserable existence?
>>18612431so why do authors and directors make characters they hate?
>>18614761>just ignore your most basic biological needsYes and no. Become a master over them and don't let them enslave you. But understand that they exist for a multitude of reasons. One such reason is to be a thorn in the flesh. Sex within the holy union of marriage is a beautiful thing, but such a thing is a blessing that God will bestow upon you if He wills it for you— ugly or not. Integrating yourself in a church community and standing out as a husband prospect that can actually fulfill the Biblical duties of a husband (sanctifying your wife) tends to land with women who care about God over physical appearances. You might just be being facetious instead of speaking from personal experience, but on the off-chance you're just plainly projecting then your problem is that you're a slave to the same secular mindsets as the women you're trying to attract. Yes, they only care about looks and money.>social needsAgain, go to church. >who cares if you are broke and condemned to never escape the poverty pitThe one who "condemns" you to this cares. Your life and your struggles have a purpose. If you let yourself suffer your whole life without acknowledging your purpose, then your purpose is seemingly to serve as a warning to others.>just ignore your brain and emotionsKind of, but not really. Christians are taught to find rejoice in suffering and understand that it all happens for a reason. By default we all deserve suffering. We are all sinners. Any blessings God confers upon us are mercy. >who cares if you're depressed and wanna kill yourself cause you can't stand your miserable existence?I care, anon. Even if you were the biggest blasphemer in the world, I would hate to see you suffer. That's why I take time out of my day to come here and give serious answers to trolls who are hidden behind 4 layers of self-loathing irony. Start small and start with little acts of love towards others and self. Persevere and let the results speak for themselves.
