why didn't recreational usage of weed become widespread in europe during the age of exploration like tobacco?
>>18616084I HATE weed.
>>18616084If I had to guess, it's because tobacco is much more addictive, so it's easier to get people hooked and make money off of poisoning them.I can't tell you how glad I am to be born right as the 500-year-long meme of smoking shitbacco finally came to a close. Thank fucking God, man. I would've been an anti-smoking gigachud like King James.>https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Counterblaste_to_Tobacco

>>18616210Well? We're waiting!
idk much about that girl more then alot of people seems to dislike her, but girls with that aestetics makes my pp hard
>>18616084It did, you're just historically ignorant
>>18616084Weed isn’t addictive, or nowhere near as addictive as nicotine at least. Yes, it makes you cringe. But you don’t become physiologically dependent on it (but can still develop a psychological dependence).
>>18616279no body hair she's a poser
>>18616367Posing as what?
>>18616361>>18616130ueah but weed is more fun and you get a more clear buzz from it, the nicotine buzz is very subtle (and once youre addicted you dont really feel it anymore, it's just that not gettig nicotine makes you feel worse) so its not worth it
>>18616289yeah a few used it but it was obviously not widespread
>>18616084she looks like she stinks (and that's a good thing)
Because Tobacco is newer than Cannabis. Cannabis use is ancient, we have records of people smoking weed going back thousands of years. Tobacco is a new world drug, which gave European traders a cash crop to heavily market to people, whereas everyone basically knew what cannabis/hemp was already
>>18616138kek
>>18616084Look at the average weedhead vs cigarette smoker, look at when everybody seemed to smoke in the 20th century. Weeheads are useless people whilst smokers are at least functional.
>>18616607At best you can argue that both are complete wasters
>>18616130I quit smoking 14 years ago and I agree. In the power ranking of drugs, tobacco goes under literal dogshit.
>>18616607>Weeheads
>>18616084It did, if anything, cannabis was considered a more potent drug than tobacco historically, since cannabis effects are far more apparent while tobacco is somewhat more subtle despite having a higher potential for dependence, that's why cannabis was outlawed but tobacco was able to remain legal
>>18616633>that's why cannabis was outlawed but tobacco was able to remain legalThat was only because of culture. Tobacco was so entrenched in our culture due to centuries of marketing and addiction, it was able to survive. But now the trends have greatly reversed. Tobacco isn't outlawed, but it is seen as subhuman to smoke today, while cannabis has been largely decriminalized or legalized.
>>18616648It's because Tobacco doesn't really get you high, you get a mild stimulant effect at best. It can be more addictive, but that's mostly down to it giving you a far higher physical dependence. Like other people ITT already said, it's just a shit drug all around
>>18616607Meth and coke users are also shockingly productive, so what?
>>18616361>develop a psychological dependencePsychological dependences ARE addictions, anon. And I would argue they're actually even worse than physical addictions because a lot of people can just do mind over matter and overcome a physical addiction easily. I smoked a pack a day for 8 years and quit cold turkey one day. But I know stoners who are in such a deep pit of despair, depression, and dependency on weed that they could never stop smoking.
>>18616633Cannabis was outlawed because of the paper and logging industry, even textiles, because hemp has so many utilitarian uses and threatened to undercut the value of their raw materials.
>>18616084They were too busy being drunk 24/7.
>>18616607Smoking actually has some short-term health benefits before the nicotine cravings and lung damage start to kick in. It temporarily boosts testosterone and acts as a stimulant. It's an old fashioned PED.
>>18617217Stimulants don't improve health. They can increase performance in certain areas, yes. No one denies that. But they do not improve health. The very first time you inhale tobacco smoke, you're damaging your teeth/mouth/throat/esophagus/lungs and increasing your risk of cancer. There is no amount of tobacco smoke that is good for you. You might as well make the claim that meth is good for you since it's also a stimulant. Retarded. If you're a soldier on the front lines and not sure you're going to make it through the night without getting shot or exploded, sure, smoking and taking meth for a performance increase makes a lot of sense. Otherwise, no. If you're a fat fuck in an office chair and you're smoking, well you're just plain dumb as shit.
>>18617207hemp is absolute dogshit for any practical use take your family guy horseshit back to r*ddit
>>18616361You used to be right, but with modern cultivars in the last decade or so, physical dependency has started to show up.Yes, you can get abstinence syndrome from modern weed. It's fucked, that's what we get from growers pushing for higher and higher potency.
>>18616084Is this the bitch who raps about her UTI ?
For centuries, Italian farmers grew massive amounts of Cannabis sativa, especially in Emilia-Romagna and Campania.
>>18616361>weed isn't addictivethe most pernicious stoner lie ever peddled. It's incredibly addictive. Every person I know that started weed cannot keep away from it, and if they do so it's only for a "tolerance break." They never just stop cold and don't do it again. Also>acutely increases risk of stroke>permanently damages working memory>disrupts endocrine system and causes gynecomastia in males>acutely increases risk of depression, anxiety, schizophrenia>causes hypertension>disrupts the gut biome and digestive system (look up cannibinoid hyperemesis syndrome)>stays in your system for months after stopping>significantly increases weight gainNow go ahead and do the old tired bit of "but le other thing is worse!" I tried weed for a few months and my mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual health were never ever ever ever worse.
>>18616130>>18616361>>18616736>>18618589You’re all sort of correct. Compared to other drugs, weed is moderately to highly psychologically addictive and slightly physiologically addictive. It can also cause health complications among heavy users. But addicts and heavy users tend to be low IQ and low impulse-control. The solution is to allow recreational drug use, but only for adults with an IQ >105-110.
