France knew how to manage english longbows : they just had to deprivate them from ressources, be patient, attack them by surprise or at the right moment... They won a handful of skirmishes this way. At worst, they could just refuse any battle : evacuate villages on the way of the english raiding party, take shelter inside castle they had no mean or time to besiege, let them starve in the middle of an empty country while the king of England waste his money. He was dependant of the funding from his parliement : a long and expensive war with no meaningful return made his vassals angry.
They won those battle because they forced the king of France to act without caution. They commited untold atrocities before Crecy (the sack of Caen) so the king of France was pressured into punishing them NOW instead of waiting for the right conditions before attacking. His own legitimacy as the protector of his people was in the balance.
That's why the crossbowmen did'nt had their shield yet, why the knights attacked right after an exhaustive march, why they did'nt circled and besieged the english camp...
The victory was allowed by the conditions of the campaign, not the tactic itself. They knew otherwise how to deal with the tactic but external pressure removed these options out of the king of France.
